  • Patent number: 10408918
Abstract: In a method for determining orientation of an object, raw image data of the sky is recorded using a sky polarimeter. One or more of Stokes parameters (S0, S1, S2), degree of linear polarization (DoLP), and angle of polarization (AoP) are calculated from the image data to produce a set of processed images. Last known position and time data of the object are obtained, and a known Sun azimuth and elevation are calculated using the last known position and time data. Roll and pitch of the object are found, and the roll and pitch data are used to find a zenith in the processed images. The yaw/heading of the object is determined using the difference between a polarization angle at the zenith and a calculated Sun azimuth.

The immobilizer further includes an interrogating signal outputting section, which outputs an interrogating signal when a signal related to engine starting is received, and an engine start permitting section, which gives engine start permission when a remote engine starter code that the remote engine starter outputs in response to the interrogating signal matches a remote engine starter verifying code preregistered in the immobilizer. The remote engine starter further includes an engine start signal outputting section, which outputs a signal related to engine starting, and a code outputting section, which in response to the interrogating signal, outputs the remote engine starter code preregistered in the remote engine starter.

  • Patent number: 7279806
Abstract: System and method for positively identifying an operator through biometric means which shall prevent unauthorized or impaired operation of a motor vehicle by requiring the potential operator to sequentially energize several vehicle devices, within a set time period, prior to placing the vehicle ignition into a start position. The system includes a device for measuring an operator's biometric identification, and a microcontroller. Logic outputs from the sequencing mechanism and the timer mechanism are contained within the microcontroller operating as a logic decoder that is used to control the vehicle ignition circuit. The microcontroller monitors the sequence in which the vehicle's devices are energized, and if they are energized within the correct order and within the predetermined amount of time then the microcontroller will output a signal to allow the ignition circuit to close. A sensory indicator may alert the potential operator as to the condition of the microcontroller output.

  • Patent number: 7224266
Abstract: A method to identify a person driving a vehicle and his/hers driving style, and also to switch on the vehicle either to a driving-allowing mode or to a drive-stop mode, is provided. In the method, the vehicle includes a scanner, and the driver is provided with a data-containing card or object. According to the method, the driving style information of the driver is stored on the card or object, and on starting driving the driver inserts the card or object into the vehicle scanner. Thereafter, data received from selected vehicle controls and/or data from varying information-collecting detectors is compared with information stored on the driver's driving style card, and on basis of the comparison the control unit in the vehicle either allows driving or enters a drive-stop mode.

  • Patent number: 7196432
Abstract: In the device a controllable switch is built into the control device which enables the start authorization and by means of which the supply voltage with which this controllable switch is supplied can be switched off. To check a start authorization a diagnosis can be undertaken which is realized with known resistance elements in the voltage supply line between identification device holder and control device. This allows the voltage drops across the elements to be compared with the corresponding required values. Simple short circuiting of the starter or the ignition is thus no longer possible since this would be detected by the control device as a result of the changes in voltage drop. In addition a fault in the supply voltage or the feed lines can be definitively detected.

  • Patent number: 7183903
Abstract: A security locker is for securing articles externally on a vehicle. The locker comprises a locker having at least one opening facing the exterior of the vehicle when the locker is fitted thereto, wherein the opening provides access to the interior of the locker. A door is moveable between an open position in which the interior of the locker is accessible through the opening from outside of the vehicle when the locker is fitted thereto, and a closed position in which the locker is inaccessible. The locker includes locking device that, when activated, locks the door in a closed position to prevent unauthorized access to the locker, and when deactivated unlocks the door to enable access to the locker. An input device is operatively connected to the locking device, wherein the locking device is accessible from outside the locked vehicle and it deactivates the locking device when an identifiable code is entered to thereby allow keyless entry to the locker.

  • Patent number: 7129816
Abstract: Provided is a remote control system capable of preventing a key code from being deciphered when the key code is transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver to be registered. In the transmitter, in response to a specified switch operation, a k-th common key code in a table to be used for enciphering a key code is changed to a registration key code stored in advance so that a key code is enciphered through the use of the table including the registration key code. A transmission code is produced by adding a predetermined code to the enciphered key code and the transmission code signal is transmitted to the receiver. This prevents easy deciphering of the key code because the key code is transmitted in a state enciphered.
