If the identifying informations do not coincide with each other in at least one of the immobilizer controller and the shift controller, neither a fuel-injection-control permitting command nor a shift-lock-cancellation permitting command is output. An engine is maintained in its inoperative state, and a transmission is maintained in a state where rotation of a driving-torque transmitting shaft is prevented. If the identifying informations coincide with each other in the immobilizer controller, it is possible to reinforce security in comparison with the case where the fuel-injection-control permitting command and the shift-lock-cancellation permitting command are output.

    Abstract: A device with a steering lock and an ignition starter switch which can be controlled by a handle in the presence of an identification transmitter is controlled by an ID transmitter which can be scanned by an ID receiver located in a vehicle. A control of the device includes a rotor which is constructed in part of magnetizable material. The rotor is connected to a handle in a rotationally fixed but axially mobile manner. In an axial starting position, the handle is blocked, but if the ID scanning is successful, an electromagnet is activated in order to move the rotor into an axial intermediate position. The handle can then be turned and the rotor is moved into an axial end position. The electromagnet is cut off, but a permanent magnet is activated to immobilize the motor.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an electronic key system for a vehicle which is a type of starting the engine with pressing a button switch and can be operated at familiar mechanical movements thus easing the user or driver of an unfamiliar conception as well as improved in the operability and the protection against theft. When a quick-start switch mounted on the steering wheel is pressed after the code identification is valid, a CPU switches on the start switch to energize a starter motor. The CPU judges from a change in the voltage of an alternator that the engine starts running. As the engine runs, an ignition switch is automatically turned to the II position with a valet key inserted. The engine can be stopped by the valet key turning to the 0 position. In the parking state, the valet key may be detached from or accommodated in the ignition switch.

    Abstract: A vehicle wireless transmitter system includes a portable fob and a repeater mounted in the vehicle headliner. The portable fob includes user actuated buttons and code generation circuitry for a remote keyless entry system, garage door opener system, and home security system. When the user activates the garage door opener button on the portable fob from within the vehicle, the code generated by the portable fob is repeated by the repeater mounted in the vehicle headliner and retransmitted in a more powerful signal directed through the windshield. Thus, the portable fob insures that the code generation circuitry is removed from the vehicle with the user, while the repeater insures that the transmitted signal has enough power to provide satisfactory range.

The control system may also include a remote transmitter for generating control signals to be received by the receiver. For example, the remote transmitter may be a portable transmitter carried by the user, or may be a satellite, cellular or paging transmitter remote from the vehicle.

    Abstract: A key fob for remotely actuating vehicle functions incorporates switches and a control which can determine whether an actuation is inadvertent or intended. In a disclosed embodiment, the switches each include field limited capacitive switches which can determine the amount of surface area of ionic material in proximity to the switch. This allows a placement of switches on both sides of the keyfob without raising the intended danger of inadvertent actuation. If a control determines the switch is proximity to ionic material over its entire surface area, the control can determine that the actuation is inadvertent as it is probably actuation by the palm of a user. However, if the actuation is above a predetermine minimum, yet below a predetermined maximum, the control can identify the actuation as intended.
