  • Patent number: 7088267
Abstract: A duplex-system digital-data transmitting apparatus includes a digital-data signal source which outputs serial data at a signal output end. The level of the data is converted by a first level converter circuit. The data is supplied to an FSK modulator circuit to be FSK-modulated. Carriers are, for example, at 11 MHz and 13 MHz and correspond to digital signals “1” and “0”, respectively. The modulated signal is amplified by a driver and is coupled to the human body by a capacitor of about 100 pF. When the human body comes into contact with an electrode, the modulated signal transmitted through the human body is amplified by a pre-amplifier, demodulated by a demodulator circuit, and shaped by a comparator. The level of the shaped signal is converted by a second level converter circuit, and the signal is supplied to a serial input end of a receiving unit. Transmission and reception are performed using a half-duplex system.

  • Patent number: 7002265
Abstract: A look-up table assists a source of logic of an apparatus in determining the power requirements of an unknown battery-powered device, so that a configurable power supply adjusts its output to provide the correct power to the device. The functions of the look-up table, in conjunction with generic templates and update-able historical information, if available, are substantially based on determining a “power signature” of the device. As a secondary function, the look-up table enables detection of battery charging activity and, when necessary, provides various means of disabling charging operations. More than one look-up table is available, and a look-up table can be located at any inter-connected device, apparatus, or power source. Inter-device communications further enhance the functionality of the look-up table, especially for collaborative data-acquisition.

Abstract: An adaptive control, capable of operating a plurality of models, that determines which model it is operating by scanning its transducer circuits. A model may be further defined by detecting other components that alter the impedance of the transducer circuits. These components allow a circuit to further identify the features beyond simply which transducer is present and/or enable the control to determine whether a transducer is not present or is non-functional. Abstract: The circuit configuration and the associated method allow reducing the 1/f noise of MOSFETs in an electronic circuit, especially in an integrated circuit with one or more MOSFETs. At least one direct current and/or at least one direct voltage source for adjusting constant working point(s) of the MOSFET(s) is/are assigned to one or more or all MOSFETs. At least one periodically oscillating current and/or voltage source is assigned to one or more or all MOSFETs so that the respective working points periodically oscillate about the constant working point(s) in such a manner that impurity states in the oxide of the MOSFET, which are recharged under the condition of a constant working point according to the principles of statistics such that they determine the 1/f noise signal, are no longer recharged statistically but at a lower probability due to the modulatory frequency of the periodically oscillating sources.

  • Patent number: 6486572
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit device has an output circuit composed of a P-channel transistor whose source is connected to a terminal for receiving a supplied voltage and an N-channel transistor whose source is connected to a terminal for receiving a ground voltage, with the node between the drains of the two transistors used as the output terminal of the output circuit. A capacitive circuit element is connected between the sources of the two transistors, and thus in parallel with the output circuit, so as to suppress variations that occur in the current supplied from the supplied power as a result of a current being fed through the output circuit to or from a load connected to the output terminal. This helps keep constant the voltage that is supplied to an internal circuit that is connected in parallel with the output circuit, and thereby stabilize the operation of the internal circuit.

Abstract: A power supply detects power requirements of an electrical device and configures itself to provide the correct power to the device. By using a connector that isolates the device from its battery, the power supply can provide power to the device, recharge the battery, recharge the battery while at the same time providing power to the device, or provide power to the device while preventing the battery from being recharged. A switch used with the connector creates various circuits and is controllable by the power supply, the electrical device, by signals from the electrical device, or by a third device. The power supply may provide power to a plurality of devices and may be used with other power supplies to form a power grid. A master control unit receives inputs from each of the power supplies and controls the delivery and supply of power being the power supplies.

Abstract: A control system for a pool and spa. Main line voltage is provided through a single line voltage service and a single ground fault circuit interrupter circuit, facilitating a ground fault test and simplifying installation. The control system acts as a power distribution system for controlling the pool and spa equipment, with a circuit board assembly including individual fuse protection devices and switching circuits. A test algorithm is included, wherein the control system is disabled from normal operation if the GFCI test fails. The pool operator manually enters a water fill command, and the controller system automatically opens the fill valve for a predetermined time interval, and then automatically closes the valve. An emergency disconnect switch is mounted near the bathing area, connected by low voltage wiring to the controller system cabinet. The controller system senses the emergency switch closure and disconnects line voltage to the line voltage loads.

  • Patent number: 6414405
Abstract: A powering arrangement for an undersea cable system provides that each branch of the system is supplied with a current equal to half of the current in the trunk. By coupling both branches to the trunk, the current adds at the branching unit. Upon occurrence of a power path fault in any branch, a virtual ground moves to the site of the fault. In addition, an image virtual ground moves to a similar point in the branch that does not have the cable fault. As a result of this implementation, the cable power system is able to tolerate at least one fault in a branch without necessitating repair, and can tolerate some multiple branch faults depending upon their location. In contrast to the operation of existing power-switched branching units, the fault-tolerant branching unit does not require down-powering and re-powering in order in order to change the power configuration, e.g., to allow a virtual ground to be re-located at shunt fault sites that occur in either trunk or branches.

Abstract: A control device of a cooling device controls a fan based on a desired temperature around a CPU set by a target value setting unit and a temperature detected by a temperature detecting unit, so that the temperature around the CPU substantially coincides with the set desired temperature. When the detected temperature exceeds the desired temperature, the control device causes the fan to rotate. At this time, the control device monitors the level of a noise generated by the fan by means of the noise detecting unit. The control device increases the value of the voltage supplied to the fan within a range in which the detected noise does not vary abruptly. As a result, the rotation speed is gradually increased to a predetermined value without causing an abrupt rise of a noise, which may acutely irritate the user.
