Brush Affixed To Pivoted Arm Patents (Class 310/244)
  • Patent number: 11177716
Abstract: A brush holder for electrical machines has a clamping piece with a first mounting part and a second clamping part, which when assembled define a clamping hole to be assembled around a spindle; and two brush holder arms pivotally mounted on the first mounting part of said clamping piece, and adapted to receive and retain a brush. The arms have an upper side which is opposite to a lower side facing a slip ring; at least one biasing spring to act upon said brush holder arms in such a way that said brush holder arms move pivotally towards and presses said brushes against the slip ring. A conductive wire connects the brush to the clamping piece. A brush holder arm locking mechanism is adapted to be inserted into a slot in the second clamping part. A brush locking pin retains the brush in said brush holder arm and provided in corresponding bores arranged in the brush holder arm and the brush.

Abstract: A brush device having the longitudinal direction of a coil shaped coil spring aligned with the face of a brush holder, in which one end of a support post at the surface of a brush base is formed as a hollow cylinder and a projection at the other end is insert molded into the brush holder. There is a step on the support post. The step and the brush holder receive a cover plate which, when viewed from a direction perpendicular to the face of the brush holder, covers a winding of the coil shaped coil spring. One end of the support post is fixed to the surface of the cover plate by spreading the end of the hollow cylinder of the support post.

  • Patent number: 7218028
Abstract: A brush holder assembly that cannot be assembled incorrectly includes a brush inserted into a brush holder, a block attached to the top of the brush, a spring engaging the block that applies radial pressure to the block and brush, and a hook pin that holds the spring onto the block. The block includes a semicircular indentation that cradles a coiled portion of the spring and includes a slotted hole for receiving a portion of the hook pin as the block is glued to the top of the brush. The hook pin is a loop terminating at a first end that is a straight pin and terminating at a second end that is a hook-shaped loop in which the straight pin end is inserted. Alternatively, a U-shaped spool assembly can be used to engage the coiled portion of the spring to lock it in the indentation in the block.

  • Patent number: 7015618
Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for supplying power to an electric motor having a commutator, comprising at least two carbon brushes (12, 14), as well as flat springs (16, 18) that subject said brushes to force in the direction of the commutator and proceed from a mounting and are connected to electric terminals. In order to enable a defined transfer of force from the flat springs to the carbon brushes, while at the same time ensuring that an unambiguous fixing of the flat springs into position and a secure current supply takes place, it is proposed that the flat springs (16, 18) have a U-shape with legs (38, 40) of unequal length, that a carbon brush (12, 14) be fastened to each longer leg, and that the shorter leg be connected electrically conductive to an at least partially encapsulated conductor path or printed circuit, which is at least a section of the mounting.

  • Patent number: 7005774
Abstract: A rotary current-collecting device includes a rotary slip ring and brushes coming into sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface of the slip ring. The brush-holding ring has an inner surface to which three brush-holding springs are fixed by screws. Each of the brushes is fixed to the tip end of the brush-holding spring and is pushed against the outer surface of the slip ring under the resilient restoration force of the brush-holding spring. When the slip ring revolves, the brushes come into sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface of the slip ring. The brush is made of a metal-graphite compound consisting of 70 weight percent copper and 30 weight percent graphite. The slip ring is entirely made of glassy carbon, so that the brush abrasion can be reduced.
