    Abstract: A vending machine includes a front plate with an opening, a delivery tray, and a shielding plate rotatably attached to the cabinet. The delivery tray is attached to the front plate and defines an entrance. A first electromagnet, a second electromagnet, and one or more sensors are located on the delivery tray. The sensor(s) is connected to the first electromagnet and the second electromagnet. The sensor(s) detects merchandise dropping into the delivery tray and sends a signal to the first electromagnet and the second electromagnet; when the sensor detects no merchandise in the delivery tray, the shielding is engaged with the first electromagnet to cover the opening; when the sensor detects the merchandise in the delivery tray, the shielding is engaged with the second electromagnet to cover the entrance. A merchandise output method of the vending machine is also provided.

The cooler door display rack forms an open top box having a bottom, front, rear and two sides. The display rack is secured to the inside surface of the cooler door such that the front side is located adjacent the transparent door interior face and such that the display rack extends into the cooling air flow zone when the transparent door is closed. The display rack is adapted to receive advertising or promotional messages viewable by the consuming public through the cooler doors. An electronic message boards may also be secured to the rack for electronic display of messages.

A window extends through the door, and the slot is located in the door such that the printed material is visible through the window. In another embodiment a window is in the face of the drawer that carries the racks. In a third embodiment a window is in a drawer which carries a portion of the racks.

    Abstract: An adjustable width display shelf is provided that can be detachably mounted on the inside surface of a transparent door panel. The display shelf includes first and second separate shelf units each including a horizontal shelf for supporting products. A product retainer wall is provided on each of the shelf units having a generally vertically extending inner periphery with the inner peripheries being in opposed spaced facing relation to each other to define a variable width vertical product access opening. An interconnect structure is provided to permit moving the shelf units toward and away from each other to adjust overall width and includes a guide on one of the shelf units and a guideway on the other of the shelf units for adjustably receiving the guide means. An attachment means is mounted on the shelf units for detachably securing the shelf units to the inside surface of a door panel.

    Abstract: Compartment partition assembly and method for a refrigerator cabinet of the type having an outer shell, an inner liner with a rear wall and side walls and a partition separating the freezer and fresh food compartments. There is provided a channel having a bottom and upper and lower side walls formed on each of the side walls of the refrigerator liner. An insulating member is formed having a top, bottom, side, front and rear walls, the bottom wall of which overlies a plate defining a surface of the fresh food compartment. The top wall of the insulating member is formed to provide a drain and sealing system having troughs with exterior walls along the periphery of the top wall adjacent the side and rear walls of the insulating member and deflected inwardly by the rear wall of the liner and the upper side walls of the liner channels. This compartment partition assembly prevents any gaps or thermal leakage and provides a drain system for defrosting the freezer compartment.
