Patent number: 7255831Abstract: A tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide photocatalyst coating oxidizes contaminants in the air that adsorb onto the coating into water, carbon dioxide, and other substances. The tungsten oxide forms a monolayer on the titanium dioxide. When photons of the ultraviolet light are absorbed by the tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide photocatalyst coating, an electron is promoted from the valence band to the conduction band, producing a hole in the valence band. The holes in the valence band react with water applied on the tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide photocatalyst coating, forming reactive hydroxyl radicals. When a contaminant in the air is adsorbed onto the tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide photocatalyst, the hydroxyl radical attacks the contaminant, abstracting a hydrogen atom from the contaminant. The hydroxyl radical oxidizes the contaminant, producing water, carbon dioxide, and other substances. The tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide photocatalytic coating has low sensitivity to humidity variations.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2003Date of Patent: August 14, 2007Assignee: Carrier CorporationInventors: Di Wei, Timothy N. Patent number: 7208234Abstract: In an organic EL element, an organic EL layer is interposed between anodes and cathodes formed on a substrate. Each of the cathodes is made of a first conductive film that comes into contact with the organic EL layer and a second conductive film that constitutes a laminated structure together with the first conductive film. The first conductive film contains any one of an alkaline metal and an alkaline earth metal. The second conductive film contains any one of at least one type metal selected from a group consisting of Ru (ruthenium), Rh (rhodium), Jr (iridium), Os (osmium) and Re (rhenium) and its oxide.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2006Date of Patent: April 24, 2007Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventor: Kota Yoshikawa

Patent number: 7204611Abstract: A lamp for night sight applications includes a bulb that transmits both visible and infrared light. The lamp also includes a coating that reflects middle infrared radiation and is transparent to near infrared radiation to increase output efficiency in the near infrared spectral range. There may be a second coating that blocks visible light on part of the lamp—and the second coating may be on an external bulb, while the first coating is on an internal bulb. The lamp is preferably used as a vehicle headlamp with a reflector that reflects near infrared radiation and is transparent to visible light. The second coating and reflector may be on the lower part of the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2003Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics, N.V.Inventor: Lukas Küpper

Patent number: 7202603Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) that has an ultraviolet ray converter. The plasma display panel includes a front panel, a rear panel, a filter set, and an optical converter. The filter set is installed in front of the front panel. The optical converter is installed between the front panel and the filter set and converts ultraviolet rays emitted from the front panel into visible rays. Accordingly, the ultraviolet rays emitted from a plasma forming area in a discharge cell are mostly converted into visible rays. Therefore, the efficiency of the PDP is improved.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2004Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: Samsung SDI Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hidekazu Hatanaka, Gi-young Kim, Seung-hyun Son, Kyung-jun Hong

Patent number: 7195826Abstract: The new organic electroluminescent display device has a carrier-transporting layer and/or an organic luminous layer composed of a nematic liquid crystal or a liquid crystal dispersing a carrier-transporting low-molecule therein. When the organic luminous layer is to be bestowed with faculty as a liquid crystal, it is made of a nematic liquid crystal. Both the carrier-transporting layer and the organic luminous layer may be bestowed with faculty as a liquid crystal. Since the liquid crystal is incorporated in the carrier-transporting layer and/or the organic luminous layer, the display device can be driven as a liquid crystal display device in a dark place by charging with a voltage lower than a light emission initiating potential. Of course, it is driven as an electroluminescent display device when it is charged with a voltage higher than the light emission initiating potential. Use of an electroluminescent liquid crystal as a organic luminous layer enables omission of a carrier-transporting layer.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2003Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignees: Tohoku Pioneer CorporationInventors: Junji Kido, Hitoshi Nakada, Teruo Tohma, Ryuji Murayama, Toshinao Yuki

Patent number: 7192659Abstract: An OLED device includes an anode, a first light-emitting layer disposed over the anode, and a second light-emitting layer disposed over the first light-emitting layer. The device also includes a metal-doped organic layer containing an organic electron-transporting material and a low work function metal disposed over the second light-emitting layer, and a cathode disposed over the metal-doped organic layer.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2004Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Michele L.
