  • Patent number: 9548177
Abstract: A smart fuse for circuit protection includes a first shaft and second shaft separated by a gap. A heater is located inside portions of the first and second shafts, and the heater is held in place within the shafts by a solder alloy that fills the gap. The shafts and solder alloy form an electrical signal path through the fuse. A spring is attached to the heater. The spring is stretched such that the spring exerts a force on the heater. The solder alloy holds the heater in place and resists the force exerted by the spring. In an activation condition of the fuse, the heater increases in temperature and melts the solder alloy. The melted solder alloy no longer resists the force exerted by the spring, and the spring pulls the heater through the second shaft until the gap is open, thereby severing the electrical connection through the fuse.

Abstract: Fluorescent lamps that comprise a glass envelope with an exterior surface and first and second electrodes located within the glass envelope include a transparent electrically conductive material affixed to the exterior surface of the glass envelope. The transparent electrically conductive material extends between the vicinity of the first electrode and the vicinity of the second electrode, thereby providing a path for an electric current to pass between the first and second electrodes and reduce the open circuit voltage required to start the fluorescent lamp. The transparent electrically conductive material affixed to the exterior surface of the glass envelope can comprise one or more stripes of the material so that less than the total exterior surface area of the glass envelope is covered by the transparent electrically conductive material.

  • Patent number: 6958570
Abstract: Inside an outer frame, which is interposed at between opposedly facing peripheries between a back substrate and a front substrate, there is an inner frame which fixes both end portions of plate member control electrodes, which are constituted of a large number of parallel strip-like electrode elements. By integrally forming the plate member control electrodes such that the plate member control electrodes are fixed to both end portions of a display region, a single part is formed. Further, a getter chamber is formed between the outer frame and the inner frame and getters are accommodated in the getter chamber. Due to such a constitution, the operability and yield rate of products at the time of assembling can be enhanced. Further, it is possible to hold a desired degree of vacuum in the space between the substrates for a long time.

  • Patent number: 6194822
Abstract: To prevent rotation of a generally flat, or planar, grid having three inline beam passing apertures, where the two outer apertures are asymmetric in shape, during assembly of a multi-beam electron gun for use in a color cathode ray tube (CRT), an electron gun alignment jig having three inline generally cylindrical mandrels in combination with a generally flat spacer plate is used. Each of the three mandrels is inserted in a respective grid aperture and the grid is placed in contact with the flat spacer plate. The flat spacer plate includes a recessed portion with an alignment slot. The grid includes a lateral alignment tab adapted for insertion in the spacer plate's matching alignment slot in a tight-fitting manner. With the alignment tab inserted in the alignment slot, the three inline apertures are in precise alignment in the alignment jig and grid rotation is prevented to facilitate electron gun assembly.
