  • Patent number: 9918365
Abstract: A ripple removing circuit and an LED control circuit applying the same are described herein. The LED control circuit receives alternating current input, converts the input into direct current with ripples and supplies power for an LED load. The direct current with ripples is connected to a positive end of the LED load, a negative end of the load is connected to a first end of a regulation tube, and a second end of the regulation tube is grounded. A first capacitor is connected between a control end of the regulation tube and the ground, and the time constant of the filter circuit formed by the first capacitor, a current generating circuit and a current source is far greater than a power frequency period. The current flowing across the regulation tube is approximately a direct current free of ripples, thereby decreasing the current ripples going across the LED load.

Abstract: A lighting control system for operating lighting in a room is provided. The lighting control system may comprise a load controller, sensors, and battery powered lighting control devices, such as switches, dimmers, and/or keypads. The load controller is configured for controlling the operation of a lighting load in response to messages received from the lighting control devices and sensors over a wireless network. The battery operated lighting control device is configured for detecting a low battery level, transmitting a low battery message to the load controller, and entering into a low battery mode during which it ceases transmitting any messages to the load controller until the battery is replaced. In response to the low battery message received from at least one lighting control device, the load controller is configured for entering into a low battery mode during which it maintains the lighting load turned on.

  • Patent number: 9913333
Abstract: A light source and method for making the same are disclosed. The light source includes a plurality of Segmented LEDs connected in parallel to a power bus and a controller. The power bus accepts a variable number of Segmented LEDs. The controller receives AC power and provides a power signal on the power bus. Each Segmented LED is characterized by a driving voltage that is greater than 3 times the driving voltage of a conventional LED fabricated in the same material system as the Segmented LED. The number of Segmented LEDs in the light source is chosen to compensate for variations in the light output of individual Segmented LEDs introduced by the manufacturing process. In another aspect of the invention, the number of Segmented LEDs connected to the power bus can be altered after the light source is assembled.

Abstract: A backlight driver includes current sources that are connected between LED strings and a number of bias voltages. There can be any number of different bias voltages, each at a ground potential or higher voltage. The bias voltage is selected for a particular LED string in order to reduce a current drop across the current source. This reduces the power consumption of the current source and LED string. Heat dissipation is also reduced.
