Abstract: An insulating frame of a deflection yoke is fixed to a funnel with a metal band and a metal screw. A partition formed so as to be integrated with a holder holding a magnet ring of a CPU includes a first partition provided on a first axis so as to hide the metal screw when the deflection yoke is seen from the holder side along a tube axis, and a second partition provided on a second axis orthogonal to the first axis. A height H1 of the first partition, a height H2 of the second partition, a minimum height Hmin of the partition, a height HM of a pull of a magnet ring on a side closest to the deflection yoke, and an outer circumferential edge diameter RM of the magnet ring excluding the pull satisfy relationships: H1>H2, HM?H2>10 mm, and Hmin>RM. • Patent number: 6995526
Abstract: A method and circuit for digitally controlled vertical C linearity correction with constant start and end points without using an AGC. A squared voltage and a negative squared voltage are added as a correction voltage to a sawtooth-shaped ramping voltage that is employed to sweep an electron beam across a display. Line spacing toward the edges of a screen are maintained equal as a result enabling a uniform presentation of a picture on a non-spherical display. A digitally controlled attenuator determines a correction coefficient for correction voltages. The correction voltage is also processed by a sample-and-hold circuit to obtain a peak squared voltage. The peak squared voltage is then compared to a DC reference voltage and an offset adjustment current determined, based on a result of the comparison. The correction voltage is then added to the ramping voltage, which is also shifted by the offset amount.

The second retrace pulse voltage is combined with the first retrace pulse voltage to produce a deflection current in the deflection winding.

Abstract: A horizontal deflection circuit generates a horizontal deflection current in a deflection winding, during a trace interval and during a retrace interval of a deflection cycle. A transistor is responsive to a vertical rate parabola signal and to a negative feedback signal for producing a vertical rate parabolic modulation voltage at a collector of the transistor. A negative feedback network generates the feedback signal that is indicative of a current flowing in the transistor for increasing an output impedance at the collector of the transistor. An inductor is coupled to the collector of the transistor for producing in the inductor a modulation current to provide for side pincushion distortion correction in an East-West modulator.

Abstract: A convergence control method and apparatus for a projection television are provided. The convergence control apparatus includes an image signal decoder, a convergence control unit, and a main microcomputer. The image signal decoder processes an input image signal and generates a data signal and horizontal and vertical synchronization signals, and a start signal indicating the start of either the horizontal and vertical synchronization signals. The convergence control unit performs convergence adjustment according to a convergence control command it receives, and generates a completion signal when convergence adjustment is complete. The main microcomputer inputs the convergence control command to the convergence control unit when the start signal is input from the image signal decoder, and performs a control operation to display the image signal when the completion signal is input from the convergence control unit.

Abstract: A method and projection television system for projecting images having a plurality of color components, includes a device for filtering a first color component signal from a composite signal to provide a filtered first color component signal. A defocusing mechanism defocuses the first color component signal based on the filtered first color component signal. A gain adjustment device adjusts a gain of at least one other of a plurality of color component signals of the composite signal. An amount of defocusing performed by the defocusing mechanism and a gain adjustment by the gain adjustment device are dependent on a content of the composite signal. In another aspect of the invention, a spot wobble scheme may be employed alone in a static defocussing system, without dependence upon the video signal content.

  • Patent number: 6459219
Abstract: A simple and cheap dynamic S-correction circuit compensates the higher order errors like the so-called moustache effect and the inner linearity distortion. This is achieved in a known way by connecting an additional proper tuned S-capacitor in parallel with the original one during the start and end of the scan interval. Duty cycle modulation of the on/off times as a function of the frame compensates the inner-pin distortion (also called inner-linearity or modulated S-correction). The duty cycle or the switch on and off instants required to compensate the horizontal distortion or moustache effect is derived by comparing the AC parabolic waveform generated on the S-capacitors with a DC-voltage. Duty-cycle modulation required for compensation of the inner-pin distortion is, in this way, automatically obtained.
