The monitoring unit can conduct the current path to enable a current to flow through the dummy load to ground to decrease a total resistance of the circuit if the testing signal is detected.

The first configuration allow the headlights on the vehicle to operate, while the second configuration allows only the headlights on the vehicle accessory to operate, with changes between the first and second configurations being accomplished without the need for a switch or a relay.

    Abstract: A method for controlling headlights on a vehicle includes detecting for a wiper switch state for a wiper switch on a vehicle, detecting wiper operations, incrementing a counter value by x until the counter value reaches a headlight ON threshold, counting toward a time threshold, decrementing the counter value by x until the counter value reaches a headlight OFF threshold value, and changing a state of the headlights based on the counter value reaching one of the headlight ON threshold and the headlight OFF threshold. Incrementing the counter value by x can occur in response to each detected wiper operation. Counting toward the time threshold can occur in response to detecting a wiper switch OFF state. Decrementing the counter value by x can occur in response to each instance of the time threshold elapsing with no change from the wiper switch OFF state. A plurality of intermediate counter values can be found between the headlight ON threshold and the headlight OFF threshold. A control system is also disclosed.

The DC-DC convertor can be configured to supply the LEDs with a substantially constant current by a controller. At least one output of the subsidiary feed circuit is connected to an LED in the LEDs, and a switching element can also be connected between the LED and ground. When the controller has a breakdown or trouble, LEDs between the LED and ground can be directly lighted by the battery in accordance with a signal provided by the controller. Thus, the disclosed subject matter can provide various LED lighting apparatuses including a user friendly fail-safe function.

A system for real time control of the lighting system is also provided.

An operator control unit generates switchover signals by an operator to manually bring about switching over the lighting device with priority. In each case, at least one change of state of the automatic function can be brought about by a first switchover signal for switching on continuous operation of the main beam that is not occurring at the time of signal generation. By way of a second switchover signal, continuous operation of the main beam, which is occurring at the time of signal generation, is switched off.
