Abstract: A pantograph assembly for a moveable head sewing machine suitable for use quilting fabric which includes a rigid extension arm having a first end and a second end and means for rigidly attaching the first end of the extension arm to a side of the head assembly of a moveable head sewing machine in a location where movement of the rigid extension arm results, either to to the left or the right in corresponding movement to the moveable head of the sewing machine, and a tracing bracket having an upper end and at least one downwardly extending lower leg configured to slide upon and over an image bearing surface medium having a design imprinted thereon to be traced, said upper bracket end rigidly attached to the second end of the extension arm, and means for indicating a point on the design to be traced, rigidly attached to rigid extension arm in close proximity to the tracing bracket.
Abstract: A hand drawing machine which includes two spring-loaded spools. Each spool includes a length of flexible material, and each length of material is attached to a rigid stick or rod. The stick, which may be adjustable, includes a pair of stylus holders. The stylus holders can hold a marker or a tracing pin. Each of the spools has a gear portion that meshes with the other gear portion of the other spool. When a marker or tracing pin is moved a corresponding movement is made by the marker in the other stylus holder. The machine allows for the tracing of an image or for simultaneously drawing two copies of an image.
Abstract: A method of generation of smoothly shaped, non-circular, curves by formation of multiple circular arcs. In the method, one draws a first circular arc which passes through two points and is tangent to a first line extending from a first point in the indicated direction. Next, one repeats the process by drawing a second circular arc which passes through one of the aforementioned two points and a third point and is tangent to an extending line. By utilizing of a common point for each of the two circular arcs one can generate a smooth, non-circular, curve from the end blending of the two circular arcs. By moving or deleting points, or by adding points, or by changing the defined directed tangent line, or by defining a directed tangent line at a different point, one can reconfigure the curve into the desired final curve. Several curves can be combined to generate a desired figure.
