Abstract: A speed square is provided including a triangular flat plate having measurement markings indicated on a least one face, a T bar affixed to, and extending along, the length of the first side of the triangular flat plate, and an extension element operably coupled to an end of second side of the triangular flat plate opposite the T bar. The extension element having measurement markings indicated on at least one face, such that the measurement markings of the triangular flat face continue on the extension element.

Abstract: Adjustable fence systems and their methods of use are described. A fence adjustment system includes a drift angle adjustment mechanism configured to adjust the angle of a fence to correct for blade drift.
Abstract: A folding rule including at least three links that are pivotably fastened to each other, at least one of the links has a scale for measuring the diameter of objects, the scale is designed in such a way that, when the object is completely enclosed by three adjacent links wherein the insides of the three links are each in contact with the object, a specified region of one of the links is in contact with the scale and a respective contact point on the scale indicates the diameter of the object.
Abstract: A combination leveling and marking tool for use in establishing wall support locations existing underneath a wall covering material such as dry wall or wall board material. The tool includes a central elongate extending portion having a first end and a second end and first and second elongate extending wing portions pivotally secured to the opposite ends of the central portion. The central portion and the wing portions each exhibit an opposing surface within which is defined individual pluralities of semi-circular shaped recesses. The wing portions establish a first folded position against the central portion and in which the pluralities of semi-circular recesses align to establish an extending row of circular apertures which are adapted to receive a mounting fastener in inserting fashion therethrough. The wing portions are further capable of being pivoted to a second unfolded position in which the wing portions are established in substantially perpendicular extending fashion relative to the central portion.
Abstract: A light-emitting semiconductor chip is produced by applying an epitaxially produced light-emitting semiconductor structure on a transparent substrate. First, a substrate layer is epitaxially grown on a lattice-matched substrate. The substrate layer is bonded, on a side facing away from the lattice-matched substrate, to the transparent substrate through the use of a wafer bonding process. Subsequently, the lattice-matched substrate is removed from the composite formed of the substrate layer and the transparent substrate. The light-emitting semiconductor structure is then epitaxially grown onto the exposed side of the substrate layer. The method is suitable, in particular, for producing light-emitting diode chips with active light-emitting diode structures, for which no optically transparent lattice-matched substrate material is available.
Abstract: A miter guide for guiding a work piece along the cutting path of a saw blade or another working tool. The miter guide includes a guide bar which fits in a slot in the surface of a table, a fence for supporting the work piece, and a telescoping extension arm connected between the fence and the guide bar for fixing the position of the fence at a predetermined angle with respect to the plane of the saw blade. The fence is pivotally connected to the guide bar, and the telescoping extension arm is also pivotally connected to the guide bar, as well as being pivotally connected to the fence at an end of the fence remote from the guide bar. A broad based triangle is formed by the guide bar, the fence and the extension arm. The extension arm includes a rod that is slidably received in a tube, and a knob that is turned to push a deformable portion of the tube against the rod to fix a length of the extension arm, thereby setting the angle of the fence.
Abstract: A miter attachment capable of use on radial saws, table saws, drill presses, router tables, and the like, comprises three legs of a triangle. The longest leg constitutes an elongated base member. This base member is pivotally attached at one end to a fence member. The base member has a track in it for engagement by a slider, which is capable of movement along at least a portion of the length of the base member. The slider is pivotally attached to one end of a coupler arm, the other end of which is pivotally attached to the fence member at a point spaced from the end pivotally attached to the base member. As the slider is moved to different relative positions along the length of the base member, the coupler arm causes the angle between the fence and the base member to change.
Abstract: A hexahedronic case (12) with a singular face extension (20) and swingout arm pair (14L, 14R) for housing a conventional, flexible measuring tape (26). A carpenter's extensible-retractable measuring tape is housed in a six-faced case which has a pair of parallel, pivotally outward swinging arms and a flange (20) extending from the rear face thereof. Several faces of the case are indexed by marks at the center (24) only of the face edges which have a consistent dimension (Z). On one face, that opposite the flange-bearing face, there is a set of indices (22) which equally divide an edge of the face upon which they appear. The divisions, in respect of the aforementioned consistent dimension, correspond to various pitches or elevations above the horizontal, or angular deflections from the vertical, that are employed in layout work in the building construction field. An example of layout for roof rafter (40) preparation is also presented.
Abstract: A cutting guide for use in cutting and fitting carpet has a first planar portion for detachable securement to a carpet and a second, marking portion attached thereto with a working or marking edge for use in transposing the location of a wall/floor edge or the like to the carpet to be cut, when the second, marking portion is positioned along the wall/floor edge and is detachably secured at that location by the carpet.
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for measuring remotely at a position above ground the angle of the notch in a manhole weir for obtaining information to calibrate the monitoring equipment and includes a cross member having a pair of pivotally attached end members adapted to move into engagement with the weir within the V-shaped notch for assuming the shape thereof.

Abstract: The tool includes a straight elongated bar having a flat top surface to which are pivoted first and second narrow bar segments. The bar segments are arranged to swing about their pivots between closed positions in which the segments overlie the bar to open positions in which the segments run transverse to the bars at right angles. The distance between the segments is made exactly equal to the desired distance between the framing studs so that the tool can be positioned alongside a baseboard to which the framing studs are to be attached and appropriate pencil marks made using the segments as ruler edges. The tool is designed to accommodate four bar segments uniformly spaced in accord with the desired stud spacing so that four stud position markings can be effected with a single application of the tool. Also, the tool is designed for easy disassembly to permit compact storage.
