  • Patent number: 11959741
Abstract: This is a measuring tool for use in the installation of metal roofing when such metal roofing must be cut in order to fit along valleys in the roof structure. Valleys are places where the roof surface changes direction, such as where the roof of a gable joins the main body of the roof. The tool measures the point at which the metal roofing panel is to be cut by sliding the base of the tool down the last rib of the last installed panel until the tip of the pointer arm touches the chalk like along which the next panel must fit. The distance from the top of said last panel to the bottom of the base of the tool corresponds to the distance from the top of the new panel to the point at which its leading edge should be cut to fit along the chalk line.

  • Patent number: 10816313
Abstract: An angle measuring gauge incorporates four arms pivotally connected to form a quadrilateral. The arms are connected to a guide bar that attaches to the quadrilateral along a diagonal and forms an axis of symmetry. A first corner of the quadrilateral is pivotally attached to the guide bar and the opposite corner of the quadrilateral is pivotally connected and is slidable along the guide bar to adjust the angles of the quadrilateral. In practice, the first corner of the quadrilateral is adjusted to conform to a desired angle, and the guide bar bisects the angle formed by the first corner and can be used to either ride in a miter slot of a cutting tool, or adjust a miter gauge of a cutting tool to cut accurate miters.

  • Patent number: 9120241
Abstract: A saw guide device for the rapid and precise cutting of perpendicular notches in framing lumber using a portable circular saw. The device consists of an edge-of-board follower rail, a support arm, and a pivotally adjustable saw fence. Externally affixed to the saw fence are a horizontal cut locator arm and a saw stop tab. The locator arm has a cut alignment tang and a saw blade recess slot. The saw stop tab has a thumbscrew adjuster. The device is positioned by the alignment tang, which drops into a previous cut. During operation the saw foot overruns the cut locator arm and is stopped by the tab. Thumbscrew adjusters are located at each end of the follower rail to allow for variation in depth of the perpendicular notch. Various angular scales are marked on the upper surface of the follower rail to aid in saw fence setup.

The invention is a compound angle blade with a split collet joint. The compound blade attaches by replacing the bolt of the T-bevel with fastening means attached to the split collet joint of the invention. This fastening means secures both the compound angle blade and the standard T-bevel square blade. The split collet joint which is attached perpendicularly to the main body of the T-bevel moves in a 360 degree radius parallel to the main body of the T-bevel. The compound angle blade is capable of rotation in approximately a 180 degree radius relative to the split collet joint. Abstract: The disclosed measuring instrument includes a pair of members arranged together to form a right-angled L and the members having indicia providing linear scales useful in measuring areas in architectural plans and the like. The members are separable at the joint that forms the corner of the L and are further capable of re-connection to each other in end-to-end relationship so as to provide an elongated straight edge. The junction of the members at the corner of the L includes a pivot about which one member may be moved through a 180.degree. range to form an inverted L. In a modification, at least one of the members includes a wing element along one edge and rockable about a separable pivot on an axis parallel to that one edge.

  • Patent number: 4766675
Abstract: An angle measuring instrument comprises, a multi-sided plate member which includes a first side and a second side that form an acute angle therebetween when they intersect, a third straight side that forms with the second side an obtuse angle when they intersect, and a graduated semi-circular region. A first measuring arm is pivoted to the plate member at the center of the semi-circular region, a second measuring arm is pivoted to the plate member at a point near the acute angle outside the circular region, and a third measuring arm is pivoted to the first and second measuring arms to form a parallelogram linkage with the plate. The second, and third sides of the plate member serve as measuring sides in cooperation with the measuring arms, thereby diversifying the application of the instrument.
