  • Patent number: 11654545
Abstract: A dual speed square has a first triangle member, a second triangle member, and an intermediate connector. The first triangle member and the second triangle member are each laterally and hingedly connected to the intermediate connector opposite each other through a first hinge joint and a second hinge joint, respectively. The triangle members rotate respective to the intermediate connector between a deployed configuration and a stored configuration. In the deployed configuration, the triangle members may be placed on opposite sides of a workpiece in order to identically mark out the opposite sides of the workpiece. In the stored configuration, the triangle members are positioned adjacent to each other, occupying a smaller space than in the deployed configuration for easier transport and storage.

  • Patent number: 10788301
Abstract: A geometric tool for capturing the relative positions of points on a geometric profile, thus creating a template for use in geometric representation and replication. The geometric tool comprises three or more pointers, and a means for constraining motion of the pointers. The pointers each comprise a rigid longitudinal member with a definitive a tip. The means for constraining motion of the pointers is such that the pointers can only pivot and radially translate with respect to a shared axis of rotation. In addition, the means for constraining motion of the pointers also contains a mechanism for the user to fully constrain the pointers with respect to the shared axis of rotation. This construction provides a simple and convenient geometric tool which offers an errorless method for capturing the relative positions of points on a geometric profile for use in further representation and replication.

Abstract: An angle cutting transfer tool for determining and delineating the midline axis of a joint onto a workpiece for cutting on a saw. The transfer tool includes two leg members pivotally connected together at one end. Pivotally attached to the inside edge of each leg member is a blade. During use, the two leg members are placed between two adjoining substructure surfaces upon which the two workpieces are to be joined. The transfer tool is then removed and one leg member is longitudinally aligned over a template. The blades are then rotated until they intersect at an equidistant point along one edge of the blades. A line is then drawn on the template from the center axis of the transfer tool to the intersecting point of the blades which delineates the midline axis of the joint. The miter or table saw is then adjusted so that the blade cuts along the line that delineates the midline axis of the joint. The workpieces are then selected and cut with the saw.

Abstract: Disclosed is a modular framing tool and a method for beam framing. The modular framing tool of the present invention comprises alignment members attached to a common body portion. In one embodiment, the tabs are permanently and rotatably attached with a locking mechanism. Alternatively, the alignment members are removable and selectively positionable. Additionally, the modular framing tool comprises a tool attachment that may be configured to join the body portion to form a T-Square, a framing square, or the like. A leveling apparatus may also be attached to form a large leveling tool. The method comprises attaching or extending the alignment members, receiving the first beam, outlining the alignment members on the first beam, and after removing the tool, attaching a plurality of beams at the locations outlined by the alignment members. The alignment members maybe configured with a width equivalent to the thickness of the beam member to be attached.

  • Patent number: 6336277
Abstract: The invention concerns a measuring stop device for a distance-measuring apparatus (4), said device comprising a rear measuring stop (1) which runs perpendicular to the measuring direction (6), is linear and is divided into at least two measuring stop regions (1a, 1b), at least one measuring stop region (1b) being rotatable about an axis (3) running parallel to the measuring direction (6). If the measuring stop regions (1a, 1b) are aligned one behind the other, a distance can be measured from a transversal intersecting a vertex and is used, for example, for determining the diagonals of a surface. In order to measure distances from a flat surface, a stable support surface which is perpendicular to the measuring direction (6) can be provided by rotating the rotatable measuring stop region (1b) accordingly.
