Patent number: 10788301Abstract: A geometric tool for capturing the relative positions of points on a geometric profile, thus creating a template for use in geometric representation and replication. The geometric tool comprises three or more pointers, and a means for constraining motion of the pointers. The pointers each comprise a rigid longitudinal member with a definitive a tip. The means for constraining motion of the pointers is such that the pointers can only pivot and radially translate with respect to a shared axis of rotation. In addition, the means for constraining motion of the pointers also contains a mechanism for the user to fully constrain the pointers with respect to the shared axis of rotation. Patent number: 6336277Abstract: The invention concerns a measuring stop device for a distance-measuring apparatus (4), said device comprising a rear measuring stop (1) which runs perpendicular to the measuring direction (6), is linear and is divided into at least two measuring stop regions (1a, 1b), at least one measuring stop region (1b) being rotatable about an axis (3) running parallel to the measuring direction (6). If the measuring stop regions (1a, 1b) are aligned one behind the other, a distance can be measured from a transversal intersecting a vertex and is used, for example, for determining the diagonals of a surface. In order to measure distances from a flat surface, a stable support surface which is perpendicular to the measuring direction (6) can be provided by rotating the rotatable measuring stop region (1b) accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1999Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: Leica Geosystems AGInventor: Franz Sprenger

Patent number: 6330751Abstract: A dock leveler apparatus includes a base member which is floatable on water, and the base member includes a planar base bottom surface. A ruler member is connected to the base member. The ruler member includes a planar ruler bottom edge which is perpendicular to the base bottom surface, and the ruler member includes indicia of linear length. When the base bottom surface is placed on a dock surface and when the ruler member projects perpendicularly downward from the dock surface, the indicia on the ruler member can be used for setting the dock surface at a desired level. When the dock leveler apparatus is employed, a dock level adjustment assembly can be used to make adjustments to the height or level of the dock surface. The base member is made sufficiently large so that if the dock leveler apparatus falls into the water, the entire apparatus will float in the water. The water-floatable base member can be made from a hollow shell.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1998Date of Patent: December 18, 2001Inventor: Larry D. Seaman

Patent number: 6289598Abstract: A length measuring device is used for measuring a length of from a virtual intersection of the extension lines of two surfaces extending along the respective sides A1, A2 to ends of the respective sides of a bent member. The length measuring device is comprised of a rotary body 20 rotating about the virtual intersection as a center O and a scale body 30 having graduations (divisions). The rotary body 20 has a contacting side 20c with which one side of the bent member A is brought into contact, while the scale body 30 has a contacting side 30c with which the other side of the bent member A is brought into contact. The two contacting sides 20c, 30c are arranged on straight lines drawn through the virtual intersection.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Tanabe Seisa sho LimitedInventor: Kenji Tanabe

Patent number: 6148531Abstract: A tool for accurately determining and setting angles using an x beam and a y beam that pivot about a common axis and may be locked in position relative to each other with an axle lock and by locking one leg of each beam to a slotted stabilizer bar. Index holes on the x beam and the y beam receive movable index pins between which measurements are taken. Trigonometric calculation may be used, or a precalculated reference book or data table may be consulted, to determine or set the angle between the x and y beams for various index pins separations, when the pins are located in the various combinations of x and y beam holes. Relatively course linear measurements permit very fine angular measurements and settings.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Bridge City Tool Works, Inc.Inventor: John J.
