  • Patent number: 5007174
Abstract: A measuring device for topographic sheets includes top and bottom transparent arms that pivot relative to a connecting pivot. A plurality of different distance scales on each arm provide for measuring the distance between two points on a topographic sheet. A protractor on the top arm and pointer marks on the bottom arm provide an indication of the extent of rotation of one arm relative to the other. The device is suitable for measuring distance between points, azimuth, scale and position of true north on an aerial photo. A slidable cross-hair member is used on either arm. One embodiment has a protractor affixed to the top arm and another has the protractor rotatable and removable from the top arm. A third embodiment has the bottom arm offset from the center of the protractor and the bottom arm slidable relative to the top arm.

  • Patent number: 4955141
Abstract: An reversible adjustable pivot angle square (10) comprising a a base blade (20) that contains a reversible level and plumb means (62) rotatably connected to a perpendicular travel blade (22) that contains a reversible level and plumb means (64) in an arrangement that forms an adjustable orthogonal position. The travel blade (22) design allows rotation to a 360 (three hundred and sixty) degree range. An angle blade (26) is angularly and rotatably connected to the base blade (20) at approximately mid center of the base blade (20) elongation. The base blade (20) design allows rotation to a 360 (three hundred and sixty) degree range. The travel blade (22) contains a through slot which runs substantially along the travel blade (22) elongation. The through slot serves as a travel blade slot (24) for the angle blade (26). Once the angle blade upper end (38) is slidably and adjustably connected to the travel blade slot (24), the adjustable pivot angle square (10) is completely pivotally and rotatably connected.

  • Patent number: 4514909
Abstract: An improved miter gauge having means for establishing the angle of a workpiece relative to a tool such as a table saw, with increased resolution and accuracy. The miter gauge includes a guide bar adapted to slidingly engage a groove in the tool. A reference frame having a flat surface against which the workpiece is held, is pivotally mounted on the guide bar. A rotatably mounted angle index dial, graduated to show the miter angle at which the gauge is set, is turned by two intermeshed gears as the reference frame is pivoted about its mount on the guide bar. The intermeshed gears are operative to rotate the angle index dial through a greater angle than the miter angle by a six-to-one ratio to increase the resolution with which the miter angle is set. For example, a 15.degree. change in the miter angle results in a 90.degree. rotation of the angle index dial. Two embodiments show alternative ways to attach one of the gears and angle index dial to the guide bar and reference frame.
