  • Patent number: 10670382
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for the manufacture of body line templates, and for the use of those templates to repair the body lines of motor vehicle body panels. The present invention improves body line repair by restoring body lines more precisely and in the fraction of time it would typically take. Templates are often used in the industry to cut and forge body panels or body panel pieces, but not for repairing body lines. The original pattern for a body line template is made from an undamaged, perfectly contoured panel, such as a quarter panel, door panel or fender. The body line templates are used as a guide to restore the original shape of the body line on a damaged body panel. The templates are also used as a guide to more easily perfect the body lines by manipulating the applied body filler. In this way, repair time can be reduced by fifty, or as much as seventy-five, percent.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a calibration and measurement system designed primarily for use in the rapid evaluation and characterization of open or visible wounds in patients. The invention in a preferred embodiment comprises a set of colored concentric rings, typically constructed of paper or synthetic paper. The practitioner removes only as many rings, from the center outward, until the entire wound is visible within the open aperture at the center of the remaining rings. The area dimensions of the wound are then read out from the size of the inner remaining ring. Photography optionally records the wound appearance and size. A related system is developed for linear dimensioning of wounds. This embodiment is also designed to standardize the color scheme for accurate photography wound description. The color scheme is also applicable to a linear device to accurately describe wound size. Embodiments of the invention are also useful in forensic and accident investigations.

Abstract: There is provided a grid system (10) containing a set of stakes (40), a grid (20) and a key (3) that can be transported to a crime scene to create a working area in which evidence can be accurately cataloged as to its precise location at the time of its discovery. The grid strings (21) are secured to the grid rings (22, 23, 24) to form a grid (20). The grid rings (22, 23, 24) attach to the stakes (40). The key (30), which also attaches to the stakes (40) ensures that the grid (2) is square. The preferred embodiment features a key (30) comprising two key rings (32) and a key string (31). The key (30), when fully extended to opposite corners of the grid (20), forms the shared hypotenuse to the right triangles on either side of the key (30) formed by the grid (20), thereby forming a grid system (10) The stakes (40) can be ribbed in a way to enable the grid rings (22, 23, 24, 32) to remain at a distinct position along the stake (40).

Abstract: A folding template for a fitted sheet includes an elongated panel having a length slightly greater than the neutral width of an elastic end of the fitted sheet, and a width that is less than one-third the length of the fitted sheet. The panel is divided into four segments separated by a hinge configured so that the panel can be folded laterally inward with the fitted sheet engaged around the panel. In a method for folding a fitted sheet, the folding template is engaged in one elastic end of the sheet, spanning the width of the sheet. The template is repeatedly flipped over width-wise along the fitted sheet while maintaining the length of the template intact. Once the template reaches the opposite end of the sheet, the panel is folded inward on itself to a reduced configuration including the fitted sheet.

  • Patent number: 8893394
Abstract: A carpentry guide tool for ensuring precise and accurate measurements with regard to offsets and reveals commonly used in carpentry, particularly in the context of trim and molding around a door or window, is now disclosed. More specifically, the now disclosed carpentry tool is capable of use simultaneously in two orthogonal directions for the accurate measurement of reveals in the corner of a framed threshold and is designed for both ease of use and ease of manufacture. The now disclosed carpentry tool is of fixed dimension and static manufacture, mitigating the possibility that human error yields inconsistencies in measurement. The preferred embodiment is two concentric square prisms of differing sizes wherein every edge of one prism is congruent and parallel to an edge of the second prism, creating a reveal defined by the size differential between the two prisms.

Abstract: The propeller blade seal positioning gauge provides for precisely marking the position(s) of the circumferential seal(s) about the blade shank of a controllable pitch propeller prior to propeller reassembly. The gauge includes an elongate arm having a stop extending from one end normal thereto. The distal portion of the arm is inwardly offset toward the spanwise axis of the blade to place the distal portion of the arm adjacent the blade shank. One or more marker notches are formed in either or both edges of the arm, their locations being precisely determined according to the specific propeller type. The stop is placed upon the butt of the blade and the tip of an appropriate marker is placed in the appropriate notch of the gauge. The device is then rotated about the blade shank to mark a circumferential ring about the shank to indicate the precise position of the seal.
