Patent number: 10697749Abstract: The reed tube cane diameter meas irement tool may hold a tube cane between a base plate and a centering block and may center the tube cane under the centering block. The reed tube cane diameter measurement tool may support a dial indicator above the cane atop an arch such that the dial indicator plunger may determine the diameter of the tube cane. The tube cane, if selected to have a desired diameter, may be split, shaved, bent, tied, or otherwise processed to create a reed suitable for use with a wind instrument. As a non-limiting example, the wind instrument may be an oboe. A vie wing angle adjuster may improve the visibility of the dial indicator by tilting the reed tube cane diameter measurement tool such that the readout of the dial indicator faces the user.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2019Date of Patent: June 30, 2020Inventor: William L. Patent number: 7171758Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for measuring the extension of a cutting tool from a boring bar used to semi-automatically recondition an articulated connector while it is still mounted to the end structure of a rail car. The apparatus is a generally c-shaped base member with generally parallel ends. At least one of the ends preferably has a plurality of stepped shoulders on an inner portion of that end. The shoulders vary in dimension but are preferably configured to bear against a cutting tool used during reconditioning of the connector.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2005Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: TIX CompanyInventors: Richard A. Patent number: 6575675Abstract: The invention relates to a boring tool that includes a boring bar having a center axis which at a top portion of the bar is arranged to be connected to a machine tool, and which at a bottom portion of the bar along the center axis is slit into two legs. The two legs can be movable towards or away from each other, such as by means of an adjusting screw, for exact adjustment of the position of the cutting tool with relation to the center axis. The tool is arranged in such a way that a joint through bar is detachably attached to the bottom of each of the legs of the boring bar. This joint through bar extends essentially perpendicular to the slit and center axis, and enables a cutting tool to be provided at the end of the bar. Hereby an especially simple tool is obtained which can be adjusted extremely precisely for fine machining of holes.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Larsen Tooling ApSInventor: Erik Larsen

Patent number: 5960686Abstract: An alignment pin has a first cylindrical portion having a first diameter equal to the outer diameter of a work piece, and axially aligned therewith is a second cylindrical portion having a second diameter equal to the inner diameter of a work piece. The pin is inserted into a tube squaring machine to align the cutting tool of the machine for squaring a work piece having outer and inner diameters equal to the first and second diameters of the pin.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1997Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: The E. Patent number: 4835878Abstract: A stable measuring platform for aligning the position of a cutting insert mounted on an exterior surface of a boring apparatus is disclosed. A gauge body is utilized having an internal support means adapted for insertion into the bore of the boring apparatus, and external support for stabilizing the boring apparatus along its exterior surface. A dial indicator for measuring the relative position of the cutting inserts is also mounted on the gauge body, and adapted to accurately measure the location of the cutting inserts relative to the gauge body while the gauge body is affixed to the boring apparatus. The device is specifically adapted for one-hand operation, and is entirely self supporting on the workpiece, leaving the operator's hands free during the alignment operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Kennametal Inc.Inventor: Donald L.
