With Adjusting Means Patents (Class 335/86)
  • Patent number: 4539539
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a tongue armature disposed inside a hollow coil body and having a free end movable between two cooperating pole plates, and a fixed end having an additional spring section disposed at an angle with respect to the movable portion of the armature, the spring section being secured to one of the coil flanges, thereby extending the effective free spring length of the armature so as to improve the sensitivity of the relay. The position of the armature with respect to the pole plates is adjustable after encapsulation of the relay by irradiating the spring section of the armature with thermal pulses, such as laser pulses at specified locations.

  • Patent number: 4521757
Abstract: A high speed electromagnetically actuated electromechanical switch is provided by a bistable electric snap blade operated by an electromagnetic actuator. A magnetically permeable yoke directs the flux paths of a pair of coaxial coils. An armature plunger shuttles axially reciprocally in the coils between first and second positions. The snap blade has a pair of cantilever arms extending towards each other to engage the armature plunger in the gap therebetween for lateral flexing actuation. Energization of a given coil provides a primary flux path around that coil through the yoke and the armature plunger, and provides a secondary flux path around both coils through the yoke and the armature plunger. The primary flux path force around either coil is always stronger than the secondary path.

  • Patent number: 4510473
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a tongue armature disposed inside a hollow coil body substantially along the coil axis, the tongue armature having a free end movable between two cooperating pole plates and a fixed end secured to a carrier disposed in a recess in a flange of the coil body substantially perpendicular to the coil axis. The carrier includes a pair of adjustment plates which are connected by means of torsion stays to fastening tabs, the carrier being connected to the coil body at the fastening tabs. Adjustment of the tongue armature is undertaken after assembly of the relay by the application of an external magnetic field to the adjustment plates, the displacement of which permanently deforms the torsion stays so as to suitably position the tongue armature.

  • Patent number: 4300027
Abstract: Apparatus drivingly couples a rotary motor operator mechanism to a reciprocating circuit breaker operator member such as to provide a braking zone intermediate the end of an operating member charging stroke and the start of an operating member return stroke during which the deactivated motor operator mechanism is brought to a stop without disturbing the operator member in its home position. Apparatus includes a latch for latching the operator member in its home position during the braking zone and a link assembly constructed to accommodate shortening of its effective drive length while a spring absorbs the kinetic energy of the motor operator mechanism. By the conclusion of the braking zone, the operator member is unlatched from its home position, and the spring discharges to propel the operator member to its return stroke while re-establishing the full effective driving length of the link assembly, thereby rendering the operator member charging and return stroke lengths equal.

  • Patent number: 4234772
Abstract: A variable drive coupling link assembly is utilized to drivingly couple a rotary motor operator mechanism to a circuit breaker mechanism operator member such as to provide a coasting zone intermediate the end of an operating member charging stroke and the start of an operating member return stroke during which the motor operator mechanism may coast to a stop. The link assembly is structured to abruptly shorten its effective driving length at the conclusion of a charging stroke and to re-establish its full effective driving length by the conclusion of the return stroke, thereby rendering the charging and return strokes of the operator member equal in length.

  • Patent number: 4182998
Abstract: A magnetically adjustable relay which may have an internally positioned sealed contact system is disclosed wherein the switching element of the contact system is elongated and has one end affixed to an elongated ferromagnetic adjusting plate. The adjusting plate is attached to the coil body by means of torsional cross pieces or bars. The position of the adjusting plate within the coil body can be adjusted by means of an exteriorly applied magnetic field which deforms the cross bars.

  • Patent number: 3946347
Abstract: A structural arrangement is provided for an electromagnetic relay having an armature, coil means, contact means including contact terminals and fixed contacts, and a coil holder body having the armature located therein and being composed of two substantially exactly interfitting and interconnected parts. One part of the coil holder body is formed as a contact holder with the contact terminals and the fixed contacts embedded therein. The other of the two parts of the coil holder body is formed as a cover member configured to at least partly define a contact containing chamber for the relay structure. Alternatively, the two parts of the coil holder body may be formed to essentially consist of two identically constructed contact holders.
