  • Patent number: 6005463
Abstract: A device for electrically interconnecting the wire leads of various electronic elements within a microminiature package. A non-conducting base member having a plurality of electronic element barriers and wire lead through-holes is provided. The through-holes are generally located within the interior regions of the base element to minimize potentially detrimental field interactions or capacitive coupling between the leads and the external package terminals. During package assembly, the electronic elements are placed within recesses created within the base member by the aforementioned barriers. These recesses and barriers align the elements and help maintain electrical separation and uniformity during manufacturing. The wire leads from two or more elements are interconnected by twisting them together and inserting them into one of the through-holes.

  • Patent number: 6002312
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a base with a contact arrangement and a rocker armature mounted on the base. Above the base, a magnet system with a coil, a core and two yokes is provided, this system working together with the rocker armature. At least the coil with the core is embedded in the insulating material of a basic body which surrounds the base in box-type fashion with side walls that are integrally formed downwardly, and forms a sealed contact chamber. By means of the basic body surrounding the coil, a high insulation strength of the relay between the coil and the contact system is ensured, as is a high stability of the construction.

Abstract: In a high-voltage transformer, an insulating ring is placed on and along the inner surface of the core housing, and gaps are formed between the tips of the flange-like plates of the coil bobbin and the inner side of the insulating ring. With such a construction, the gaps and the insulating ring are provided between the coil bobbin and the inner wall of the core housing, so that the flange-like plates of the coil bobbin do not come in contact with the inner surface of cylindrical wall of the core housing. Therefore, a surface distance of the coil bobbin ranges to a contact surface of the coil bobbin where it comes in contact with the front wall of the core housing. The surface distance is elongated. • Patent number: 5929736
Abstract: In an engine igniting coil device comprising an ignition coil assembly potted integrally in a coil case by injecting melted insulating resin, a secondary coil is formed on a coil bobbin by bank winding an element wire in layers of wire turns one over another at a certain bank angle in an axial direction on the bobbin and by slope-winding of layers on the end portion of the bobbin by tapering the coil (by reducing the number of layers therein) in the winding direction. This allows setting a dielectric strength of interlayer insulation of the secondary coil according to a potential distribution therebetween, which is secured by forming an insulation resin layer of a reduced thickness between the coil case and the secondary coil of the secondary coil bobbin, thus realizing a compact engine-igniting coil device.

Abstract: A coil assembly for a solenoid valve includes a sealing member having a sealed cavity that generally encircles an opening containing an electrical lead extending from the windings of the coil. The sealing member is disposed within a encapsulating material that is pressure molded around the windings of the coil assembly. During the pressure molding process, the pressure from the molding process exerts a force on the outermost side of the sealing member and compresses the outer member. The force being exerted to the outermost diameter is transferred through the sealed cavity to the innermost portion of the sealing member forcing it into a forced intimate contact with the lead. The force on the lead is maintained after the pressure from the molding process is removed. This arrangement provides a seal between the lead and the sealing member that is effective to prohibit damaging elements reaching the windings contained in the coil assembly.

Abstract: The solid insulation transformer has a rectangular core covered with a compressible closed-cell foam to eliminate stress during curing of the cast dielectric material surrounding the core and during operation. Heat pipes are placed between the inner coil and the core to extract heat before the temperature builds up. For safety and to eliminate the need for a separate enclosure, an outer multi-layer casing having an incorporated grounded conductive layer is provided to cover the sides of the cast body. The outer casing prevents explosion if dielectric break down and arcing occur, and reduces the danger of electric shock.

Abstract: A resin-rich electrically conductive felt material is described. The described conductive felt can be used to suppress corona discharge in high voltage generator coils. The conductive felt is prepared by treatment with electrically conducting polymers, such as polyaniline and polypyrrole, and resistivity values ranging from 4,000 to 100,000 ohms may be obtained. This treated felt can be readily impregnated with thermoset resins, such as epoxies, to provide flexible prepregs suitable for coil bonding applications in turbine generators.

Abstract: A coupling device of synchronous cable for connecting a frequency of an induced voltage generated from a fly back transformer (FBT) is provided. The coupling device includes a metal support 53 formed with an accommodating groove 52 so as to be interposed with a shield metal 51 to a front wall surface of a case 50 of the FBT. Case 50 is provided with a ferrite core 60, and the ferrite core 60 is inserted and supported between the metal support 53. Shield metal 51 of the metal support 53 is connected with a synchronous cable 70 and grounded so as to draw out an induced voltage of the FBT. According to this design, not only a frequency of the induced voltage generated from the FBT is made to be stably drawn out, but also the coupling of the synchronous cable is automated whereby its workability and a productivity are improved.

Abstract: A planar transformer assembly includes an insulative layer, a first spiral winding thereon circumscribing a magnetic flux path, a second spiral winding thereon in non-overlapping relation to the first spiral winding circumscribing the magnetic flux path, and a ferrite core assembly including first and second core sections defining a shallow gap or passage within which the spiral windings are disposed. In one embodiment, a plurality of laminated insulative layers are provided with a primary winding including a plurality of series-connected spiral subwindings and a non-overlapping secondary winding formed on the various insulative layers. The non-overlapping structure and the order of the various windings minimize electric field gradients and thereby minimize electric field coupled noise currents.

Abstract: An encapsulated transformer includes a transformer coil assembly, a rigid core insert having an upstanding portion positioned within the hollow interior of the core and a base portion on which the core rests, and a thermoplastic rubber jacket that completely surrounds the transformer coil assembly and is bonded to the base portion of the core insert to provide a completely waterproof encapsulated transformer which is impervious to liquid and gasses that could be detrimental to the performance of the transformer. A method for producing such an encapsulated transformer includes placing a rigid core insert in a mold cavity of a mold, and positioning a transformer coil assembly in the mold cavity so that the transformer coil assembly rests on the core insert. Thermoplastic rubber is then injected into the mold cavity to completely encapsulate the transformer coil assembly in a jacket of thermoplastic rubber.

Abstract: A common mode choke has a generally rectangular ferrite body for surface mounting on a printed circuit board. First and second spaced apart slotted openings extend vertically between the top face and the bottom face of the ferrite body. At least one pair of electrical conductors extend along parallel paths from the bottom face through the first slotted opening to the top face, along a portion of the top face, and back down through the second slotted opening to the bottom face. One pair of opposing side faces preferably has lower portions extending outwardly past a plane of the bottom face to thereby serve as a support to mount the bottom face of the ferrite body in spaced relation from the circuit board. The electrical conductors may then extend outwardly from the bottom face of the ferrite body for electrical connection through corresponding openings of a circuit board or extend laterally outwardly for electrical connection to corresponding portions of the circuit board in a gull wing configuration.
