  • Patent number: 6860000
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method to embed a thick film resistor composition into a printed wiring board comprising the steps of applying a reinforcing composition onto a resistor composition disposed on a metallic substrate forming an assembly wherein the resistor composition is at least partially coated with the reinforcing composition; processing the assembly; and applying the assembly onto at least one side of an organic substrate forming a component wherein the organic substrate is at least partially coated with an adhesive layer and wherein the reinforcing composition side of the assembly is embedded into the adhesive layer. The reinforcing composition allows laser trimming of the fired resistor and also eliminates cracking during lamination steps of the invention.

  • Patent number: 5304977
Abstract: The film-type electrical power resistor includes a flat ceramic chip on the upper surface of which is screen-printed a resistive film. Terminals (leads) are mechanically and electrically connected to the upper chip surface, the terminals being such that the chip may be positioned by the terminals in a predetermined position in a mold cavity during manufacture of the resistor--prior to introduction of synthetic resin. The synthetic resin forms a molded electrically insulating body that embeds the portions of the terminals that are relatively near the chip, and also embeds the upper portion of the chip, but does not embed the bottom surface of the chip. The relationships are such that the lower chip surface may be engaged flatwise with a flat region of a chassis or heatsink. Accordingly, the chip is a substrate for the film, a heatsink for the film, an insulator maintaining the film electrically insulated from the chassis, and a spacer maintaining the terminals spaced from the chassis.

  • Patent number: 5208576
Abstract: An electrical external resistor with a plate-like, electrical insulating carrier element and a flat resistance element arranged on the upper side of the carrier element. The carrier element has several films forming a closed coating and varying in their electrical conductivity. The films arranged on the upper side and on the lower side of the carrier element consist of cermet, and the film covering the edge area of the carrier element consists of an electrically insulating material. By means of springs or a pressure distribution plate, the resistance element is pressed against the upper cermet film of the carrier element. The interior space of the housing is filled with a casting compound made of addition cross-linking two-component silicon caoutchouc (rubber). The electrical external resistance is discharge-free.

  • Patent number: 5048176
Abstract: A radiant heater with partly embedded and otherwise projecting heating coils (16) is produced in that the coils (16) are placed in grooves (14) of a tool or mold (13), the interior of the heating coils is partly filled with a filling material (17) and then the dry, pourable insulating material is pressed thereon. Thus, the filling material forms a counter-die and is removed on taking the compressed insulator (21) out of apparatus (11) in that it drops between the heating coils.

  • Patent number: 4251714
Abstract: A device for heating tables containing an evaporable substance such as scents, deodorizers or insecticides includes an elongated heating support of insulating material having a planar surface and a longitudinal opening therethrough. The heating support is preferably T-shaped, the planar surface being the top of the T. The planar surface is coated with an enamel coating so that residue from the evaporable substances is easily removed. A cylindrical resistance heating element is inserted into the cylindrical opening, the cylindrical element being of a lesser length than the length of the heating support. The arm portions of the T-shaped support may be each provided with a longitudinally extending hole for limiting lateral transfer of heat through the support. Conductors for supplying electricity to the heating element enter the cylindrical opening at a point displaced from the outward edges thereof so that the outward edges of the heating support member is completely insulated.
