    Abstract: Electrically resistive devices, such as voltage dividers, and methods of making the same are disclosed. An illustrative voltage divider may include a substrate having an axis, an electrically resistive path applied to the substrate, and at least one terminal positioned around the substrate and in contact with the electrically resistive path. The electrically resistive path may include a primary resistor and a secondary resistor, with the primary resistor having a higher electrical resistance than the secondary resistor. An adjustable displacement of the at least one terminal along the axis of the substrate may allow adjustment of at least one electrical resistance associated with the at least one terminal. An adjustable tightness of the at least one terminal around the substrate may allow adjustment of the at least one electrical resistance associated with the at least one terminal.

    Abstract: A heating coil assembly for use in an air blower device has an annular support element, a first end cap, a core having a heating coil spirally wound thereon, a sleeve surrounding the coil and core, and a second end cap. All components have a centrally disposed non-circular bore therein for receiving a heavy gauge non-circular wire retainer, swaged at one end, which extends through the entire assembly and is retained by a press washer at an opposite end. The interior of the sleeve is spaced from the coil forming an axial channel for air flow over the coil. Axial openings in the end caps form air inlets and outlets for the channel. The coil has several leads, at least one of which extends through an axial opening in one of the end caps. The heating coil assembly has a small number of components, which are easily assembled and simultaneously axially and radially positioned and retained relative to each other by the wire retainer.

Each turn of the helical portion is supported at three separate points.

The inner pipe is ensheathed by an extruded heat-shrinkable plastic tube of non-reactive material, such as PTFE or polypropylene not exceeding 7 mils in thickness, which is shrunk-fit thereon to form one wall of the flow passage. The opposing wall of the passage is formed by the interior surface of the outer pipe which is also constituted by non-reactive plastic material such as PTFE or polypropylene.

    Abstract: A probe-like, vibration-resistant fast-heating electrical heater assembly for use in a pollution sensor of an exhaust monitoring system for internal combustion engines, which comprises an elongate metal tube having concentrically disposed therein a metal conductor rod which is insulated from the tube. At one pair of corresponding ends, the tube and rod carry a ceramic coil form having an open winding on it comprising a helical resistance coil that is disposed in a helical groove of the coil form. Ceramic cement is utilized to secure the coil form in place, and also to mount the conductor rod in the conductor tube whereby a rigid, vibration-resistant assemblage is had that can also withstand high temperatures. The conductor tube is carried in a terminal post that has an annular flange at one end for the purpose of mounting the heater assembly in the associated equipment.

    Abstract: A device for heating tables containing an evaporable substance such as scents, deodorizers or insecticides includes an elongated heating support of insulating material having a planar surface and a longitudinal opening therethrough. The heating support is preferably T-shaped, the planar surface being the top of the T. The planar surface is coated with an enamel coating so that residue from the evaporable substances is easily removed. A cylindrical resistance heating element is inserted into the cylindrical opening, the cylindrical element being of a lesser length than the length of the heating support. The arm portions of the T-shaped support may be each provided with a longitudinally extending hole for limiting lateral transfer of heat through the support. Conductors for supplying electricity to the heating element enter the cylindrical opening at a point displaced from the outward edges thereof so that the outward edges of the heating support member is completely insulated.

A flexible sleeve braided of fibrous glass material is slidably assembled on the coiled wire and the sleeve with coiled wire within is inserted as a subassembly into the outer tubular member to form an assembly for immersion in the liquid to be heated. Opposite ends of the heating cable extend above the liquid for attachment to electrical connections from a source of electrical power. Ground wires may also be provided to permit running of the electrical energy to ground in the event the outer tubular member is ruptured in service. Support rods are usually provided to anchor the cable to the desired configuration when immersed in the liquid to be heated.

Said supply lead comprises a longitudinal portion extending along the support and a radial portion connected to said conductor within a supporting glass case or bead projecting into the outer tube from its end.
