  • Patent number: 10364594
Abstract: Certain aspects of the technology disclosed herein include an apparatus and method for electrically and mechanically connecting a deadbolt to a main housing of a lock. The main housing can be configured to extend a deadbolt along a path to lock and/or unlock a door while receiving electrical energy from an energy storage device disposed in the deadbolt. The energy storage device disposed in the deadbolt can be proximate to one or more electrical contacts electrically connected to one or more components in the main housing via conductive components of a bolt carriage. The bolt carriage includes a groove attachable to a male detent connector attached to the deadbolt. The groove in the bolt carriage provides a mechanical connection to the deadbolt and also aligns pogo pins with electrical components of the bolt carriage to enable electrical transmission from the deadbolt to the main housing.

  • Patent number: 10121476
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media relating to speaker verification. In one aspect, a system receives a first user identity from a second user, and, based on the identity, accesses voice characteristics. The system randomly generates a challenge sentence according to a rule and/or grammar, based on the voice characteristics, and prompts the second user to speak the challenge sentence. The system verifies that the second user is the first user if the spoken challenge sentence matches the voice characteristics. In an enrollment aspect, the system constructs an enrollment phrase that covers a minimum threshold of unique speech sounds based on speaker-distinctive phonemes, phoneme clusters, and prosody. Then user utters the enrollment phrase and extracts voice characteristics for the user from the uttered enrollment phrase.

  • Patent number: 9449479
Abstract: Known security systems issue an audible and/or visible alarm to alert all those local to a secured article that the article has been compromised. However, for various reasons, passers-by do not respond to such an alarm/alert. According to the present invention, if an intruder interferes with a secured article, a sensor may detect an event associated with an article being interfered with and/or compromised. This detection will trigger (via a processor) an alarm condition, and a transceiver will send an alarm signal to a monitoring device over a communication network; however, no indication of the alarm condition is detectable outside the housing by means other than via the alarm signal. In this way, an intruder compromising an article is not alerted to detection of the event by the sensor. Therefore, authorities may be summoned to apprehend the intruder without the intruder being provided with the opportunity to escape.

The lockset is adapted to unlock upon receiving a value corresponding to a first dynamic access code programmed therein. The second dynamic access code is time-synchronized with the first dynamic access code programmed in the electronically-controlled lockset.

  • Patent number: 8902040
Abstract: An electronic lock, system and method for dynamic controlled access, without the lock communicating with or connected to a code server, are provided. The lock includes a locking mechanism, a clock, a microprocessor, and a memory storing a hash function and programmed instructions for the microprocessor to perform certain operations. The microprocessor and memory may be comprised in a microcontroller. When an access code is entered into the lock, the lock microcontroller hashes currently valid access start date/duration combinations with lock identifying data to return valid access codes. If the entered access code equals any of the valid access codes, the locking mechanism is opened. The lock identifying data may include data stored by a lock manufacturer and/or data created by a lock owner. Static access codes may also be programmed into the lock if desired. Caching of valid access codes may be used to reduce processing time.

  • Patent number: 8710952
Abstract: A method of authenticating a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader to efficiently and timely check of revocation status of the RFID reader includes the steps of checking whether a given certificate is expired or revoked, and allowing a user of an RFID tag to verify that the credentials and revocation status information reported to the tag by reader is correct and current/valid before permitting information transmission from the RFID tag to the reader. An RFID tag includes a passively powered display and a user activatable control which allows the method to be carried out with the tag. The tag may include encrypted communication ability and automatic certificate revocation list checking. (This method is applicable not just to RFID but to any technology involving purely passive operation, i.e., where the tag obtains power from a reader).

Abstract: A universal remote control system is disclosed. The universal remote control includes a receiver that has a wireless signal receiver unit, an electric motor that drives a mechanical arm and a microprocessor. When the receiver receives a control signal from a wireless signal transmitter, the microprocessor will energize the motor which drives the mechanical arm toward a pushbutton switch of a controlled device, such as a garage door opener, and depresses the push button, therefore activating the garage door opener. A feedback signal, for example, from the mechanical arm or the motor, may be provided to the microprocessor to inform the microprocessor when the pushbutton switch is sufficiently depressed and is in an engaged state. When the switch is in the engaged state, the motor will reverse its direction, causing the mechanical arm to raise and move back to a standby position.

Abstract: A key for opening multiple axial pin locks has a base member with an indexing element and a number of lock pins, configured to match the keyways of the locks. The key has a microprocessor with access to information on the pin configuration for each lock to be opened, and the lock pins are selectively positioned along the base member to match the configuration of a key for a particular lock in response to the user entering an identification code for that lock. The lock pins can slidably engage recessed tracks in the base member, which serve to direct the lock pins parallel to an axis of the base member. A pin latching mechanism can be provided to secure the lock pins in the desired position.

  • Patent number: 8634806
Abstract: In regard to a radio-controlled communication system (1), which comprises a base station (2) and at least one single mobile part (3), a registration procedure, which is simplified for a user, is proposed for registering the mobile part (3) at the base station (2). The registration procedure operates such that upon a first PIN request by the base station (2) to the mobile part (3), the mobile part (3) automatically transmits a so-called default PIN to the base station (3). If said default PIN is correct, the registration procedure is successful. If said default PIN is incorrect, the base station (2) checks for the existence of the so-called default PIN. If said default PIN does not exist, the registration procedure is ended. If the PIN exists, a user of the mobile part (3) receives the possibility to manually input the PIN, and the registration procedure is continued upon the check of the transmitted PIN for correctness.

Abstract: An anti-theft system for a vehicle that registers ID information at the time of replacement of a lock controller. A portable device, such as a key, has exclusive ID information. A lock controller locks or unlocks a control target device according to an authentication result of the portable device. An auxiliary controller transmits and receives data to and from the lock controller and stores the ID information of the portable device as backup data. The lock controller receives the ID information from the auxiliary controller, and transmits a response requiring signal for searching the portable device which has the ID information received from the auxiliary controller and is present within a predetermined detection range. Then, the lock controller stores the ID information of the portable device which has transmitted a response signal to the response requiring signal.
