Authorization Control (e.g., Entry Into An Area) Patents (Class 340/5.2)
  • Patent number: 12223783
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for digitally providing access to an article is disclosed. The system includes a locking unit to secure and article in a locked state and a server. The server generates a digital key associated with the article or the locking unit. When the digital key is provided to a portable electronic device of a user, the digital key enables the portable electronic device to alter the locking unit between the locked state and the unlocked state without the user paying for the article or authorizing payment for the article. Upon a first event, the digital key is assigned to the user and provided to the portable electronic device of the user. The first event includes the user initiating a request for access to the article or the digital key, and verification that the user satisfies a predetermined condition.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to electric vehicles, and more specifically to methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for requesting user authorization for electric vehicle charging sessions and responding to the requested user authorization. The methods, apparatuses, and computer program products described herein allow a user of an EV to use his/her single already-existing physical electronic key in order for him/her to be authorized for EV charging sessions at EV charging stations of different charging service providers. By so doing, it is possible to avoid the need to produce and mail new physical electronic keys each intended to be used at the EV charging stations of a different charging service provider, thereby significantly reducing the time of the user authorization.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a distance travelled by a vehicle for the purpose of assessing and settling a road usage charge allows for determining a distance travelled with a vehicle. A mobile device can acquire odometer values which are subsequently reported to a system that confirms the distance drive and determines a road usage charge. Once the actual distance travelled by the vehicle is determined by the system, a road usage charge can be determined. Fuel excise taxes paid by the vehicle operator for fuel used by the vehicle and tolls can be subtracted from the road usage charge to determine a road usage settlement amount that can be paid from, or refunded to a financial account associated with the vehicle.

Abstract: A premises device associated with a premises security system includes a three-dimensional (3D) depth sensor and a camera and processing circuitry in communication with the camera and the 3D depth sensor. The processing circuitry in the premises device generates a two-dimensional (2D) template of a face based on an image captured by the camera. The 2D template indicates a facial characteristic associated with the person's face. A 3D mapping of the facial characteristic is generated using data from the 3D depth sensor. At least one of an emotional state or facial gesture is determined based on the 3D mapping. The premises security system performs a security action based on the at least one of the determined emotional state or facial gesture.

  • Patent number: 12170507
Abstract: A protection circuit for an acoustic filter and/or a power amplifier is disclosed. In one aspect, the protection circuit includes a bidirectional coupler that helps secure a measurement of power at an antenna. The power measurement is compared to a threshold by a detector, and if the power measurement is above the threshold, a signal is sent that causes debiasing of a power amplifier stage, which reduces power levels of signals being amplified by the power amplifier stage and correspondingly lowers the power level going through a filter associated with the power amplifier stage. By lowering the power level going through the power amplifier stage and the filter, both elements are protected against over power conditions allowing functionality to be maintained.
