Having Indication Of Improper Access Patents (Class 340/5.3)
  • Patent number: 7737820
Abstract: A remote control system for moving an access door includes an indicator, at least one uniquely coded remote transmitter, and a controller that is switchable to a learning mode for learning a unique code of a remote transmitter to define a learned remote transmitter. The controller is switchable to a door moving mode based upon receiving a signal from the learned remote transmitter. The controller cooperates with the indicator for indicating whether a new uniquely coded remote transmitter has been learned based upon the controller being switched to the door moving mode to thereby alert a user of a potentially unauthorized learned remote transmitter. Alternately, a remote switch may be used to activate the indicator.

  • Patent number: 7425888
Abstract: System and methods for optimizing communications between an RFID reader and a population of tags are described. To minimize the amount of data exchanges, the reader and tags use non-sequential bit string or byte masking. In non-sequential bit string masking, the reader transmits an interrogation mask having a plurality of non-sequential sub-masks to the tags. During subsequent collection of the identification sequence, the reader and tags only exchange the non-masked bit positions. The interrogation mask can be determined using superposition processing, historical tendencies, or known identification and/or subset of identification ranges. During superposition processing, the reader determines whether a bit position contains a single value or multiple values for tags in the tag population. If the bit position contains a single value, the bit position is designated as masked. If the bit position contains multiple values, the bit position is designated as non-masked.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for identification of manipulations on an arrangement comprising a sensor (S) which emits pulses and a recording unit (RM). Particularly in the case of a tachograph (DTCO), any possibility of manipulation must be overcome. For this purpose, the invention proposes that the sensor (S) transmits real time pulses (RTS) to the recording unit (RM) and, cyclically in response to first request instructions (1.0), transmits higher data signals (DS) for a measurement, and receives a number of real time pulses (RTSN) in response to second request instructions (2.0) which are offset in time with respect to the first request instructions (1.0). A data signal evaluation module (DSE) compares the number of real time pulses (RTSN) with the number of data signal pulses (DSN) and thus achieves a very high level of security against manipulation.

The locking apparatus has a fingerprint reader (23), a fingerprint verifier (11), and a power supply circuit. The fingerprint reader reads a fingerprint. The fingerprint verifier verifies the read fingerprint based on registered fingerprint data, and according to a result of the verification, authenticates a person who entered the fingerprint. If the person is authenticated, the locking apparatus unlocks a door locked with the locking apparatus. The locking apparatus comprises a chamber (19) configured to contain the fingerprint reader, a lid (25) configured to open and close the opening of the chamber, and a switch (41) provided for the power supply circuit and configured to interlock with the lid so as to turn on and off the power supply circuit in response to the opening and closing of the lid.

Abstract: A security system incorporating one or more biometric data recognition capabilities in a non-intrusive way to enhance the overall security provided by the system. The biometric recognition may be provided by incorporating one or more cameras in a keypad system wherein the key identifications are altered between uses, and wherein the viewing of the key identifications is sufficiently restricted so that an operator must be adequately aligned with the key identifications when operating the system that reliable biometric data may be automatically obtained during system operation without the need for additional explicit positioning requirements placed upon the user. Other biometric data sensors may also be used if desired. Various embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7068147
Abstract: In a control information rewriting system, a rewriting device for vehicle ECUs and a control center are provided. A function f necessary for the rewriting device to access the ECUs is stored the control center. When data communication is carried out by way of a telephone line network, the control center acquires ID information from the rewriting device and acquires a telephone number of the call origin. When the association relationship between this ID and telephone number matches an association relationship stored in the database, the control center determines the rewriting device to be a legitimate one. Only when the control center determines that the rewriting device is a legitimate one, it transmits the function f to the rewriting device to enable rewriting of control information of the ECUs.

Abstract: A system (100) and method (200) for preventing unauthorized use of a device (114). The system (100) includes a biometric reader (110) and an authentication unit (112). The biometric reader (110) measures a biometric characteristic and transmits the measured biometric characteristic to the authentication unit (112) over a communications link (118). The device (114) is embedded within a garment (116), and the authentication unit (112) transmits an authorizing signal to the device (114) when the authentication unit (112) biometrically identifies a user. In one arrangement, the authentication unit (112) can include a database (134) for storing authorized biometric samples. The authentication unit (112) can compare the measured biometric characteristic with the authorized biometric samples when the authentication unit (112) receives the measured biometric characteristic from the biometric reader (110).

Abstract: A combined systems user interface (CUI) may be configured with an advanced technology screening checkpoint (ATSC), which is a passenger-friendly, high performance system for screening passengers and carry-on items to detect assembled bombs, bomb components, metallic and non-metallic weapons, and other contraband items. The CUI may include a baggage, passenger, and secondary screening status regions. The baggage screening status region displays screening information generated by an explosives screening system and a baggage imaging system, while the passenger screening status region displays screening information generated by an explosives detection portal and a metal detection portal. In some implementations, a secondary screening status region displays screening information generated by a body scanning system and an enhanced explosives screening system.

  • Patent number: 6870459
Abstract: A theft protection system for an automobile and a method for initializing the theft protection system transmit a challenge signal from a central control unit over a data line during the initialization of the theft protection system, after a starting signal has been received. Control units that are connected to the data line send back an identification which is stored in the central control unit. The extent of the control units tied into the theft protection system is thus fixed. During subsequent authentication operations, all of those control units must answer with their identification, before the automobile can be used. An electronically coded dongle is advantageously used as a control unit.

Abstract: A shared vehicle system includes a central facility, at least one vehicle distribution port facility and a plurality or fleet of vehicles, each having a vehicle subsystem. In general, the central station and port facility and the vehicle subsystems communicate in a manner to allow a user to enter information at a port facility. That information is then communicated to the central facility, where the information is processed to select a vehicle from the fleet to allocate to the user at the port facility. Selection of a vehicle for allocation to a user may be based on selecting an available or soon to be available vehicle according to various algorithms that take into account the vehicles state of charge.

  • Patent number: 6844808
Abstract: Base stations in an outdoor warning siren system monitor the system communication radio frequency to detect the command signals used to activate remotely located warning units. A valid command signal includes a portion identifying the base station generating the signal. When a base station detects a signal bearing its identification, the base station compares the detected signal to its own station ID. If the detected signal matches the detecting station's ID then a system breach is declared. The outdoor warning siren system may respond to a breach by automatically de-activating any alarms activated by the unauthorized signal and/or producing a breach indication to emergency personnel who may respond according to the situation.
