Abstract: A lock release apparatus in a vehicle includes a vehicle unit and a portable device, for an exchange of the first and second reference signals transmitted therebetween from the portable device through human body of the driver toward the right and left hands of the driver onto the first and second interfaces. The signals received by the interfaces are used to set the first and second determination conditions. At a time of a shift lever operation, an interface on a shift lever is used to receive the first determination signal for determining the first determination condition, together with the second determination signal from the other interface for releasing the lock of the shift lever.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes techniques for controlling access a restricted location (114) as well as a system (100) for doing so. According to various implementations, a potential entrant to the restricted location needs to transmit two values to an access authorization device (108) located at the perimeter (112) of the restricted location in order to gain access. In one implementation, the system provides an authentication code to a first device (116) (e.g., a smartphone) via wireless communication link (120) (e.g., over a cellular network) and displays a visual image (127) with an embedded access code at a display device (104). The second device (118), which is securely paired with the first device, captures the image and sends the image data to the first device. Using the authentication code and the access code, the first device derives the two values to gain access to the restricted location.

  • Patent number: 9007173
Abstract: A wireless device access system that employs directional antennas for short-range wireless communication to detect the proximity and orientation of a user device with respect to a structure is disclosed. The access system receives and authenticates an unlock request and confirms the proximity and orientation of the user device prior to transmitting an unlock command to the structure. This authentication may occur through the use of substantially opposing directional antennas separated by a ground plane. Additionally, the wireless device may require the proximity of a user token prior to operation and/or the access system may include an override within the structure blocking any unlock command.

  • Patent number: 8976002
Abstract: A universal remote control system is disclosed. The universal remote control includes a receiver that has a wireless signal receiver unit, an electric motor that drives a mechanical arm and a microprocessor. When the receiver receives a control signal from a wireless signal transmitter, the microprocessor will energize the motor which drives the mechanical arm toward a pushbutton switch of a controlled device, such as a garage door opener, and depresses the push button, therefore activating the garage door opener. A feedback signal, for example, from the mechanical arm or the motor, may be provided to the microprocessor to inform the microprocessor when the pushbutton switch is sufficiently depressed and is in an engaged state. When the switch is in the engaged state, the motor will reverse its direction, causing the mechanical arm to raise and move back to a standby position.

  • Publication number: 20150061830
Abstract: Upon determination that a mobile device is present within a first communication area, a control device maintains transmitter power output of an electromagnetic wave to be transmitted from a communication section. Further, the mobile device decreases sensitivity for receiving the electromagnetic wave such that the first communication area is narrowed to a second communication area. Then, the control device determines, based on presence/absence of a response from the mobile device, whether the mobile device is present within the second communication area.

Abstract: Implementing remote garage door opener functions includes providing, via a computer processor, a graphical user interface on a display device and prompting a user via the graphical user interface to program a garage door opener unit that is in communicative range of a transceiver. The functions also include receiving a response, from the user via an input control of the display device, indicating an acceptance by the user to program the garage door opener unit. Upon determining via the transceiver that the garage door opener unit is in programming mode, the functions include transmitting a request to the transceiver over a vehicle network to initiate synchronization between the vehicle and the garage door opener unit and receiving, from the garage door opener unit upon completion of the synchronization, an acknowledgement of successful synchronization.
