Access Barrier Patents (Class 340/5.7)
  • Patent number: 10542431
Abstract: A method of commissioning a sensor includes using a system having a central control panel, a plurality of sensors, and a cloud server. A first identification code from a first near frequency communication (NFC) tag that identifies the control panel and a second identification code from a second NFC tag that identifies a sensor of the plurality of sensor are read and transmitted to the cloud server. A learn-in code is received from the cloud server and displayed to a user. The user is prompted to activate a learn-in process by entering the displayed learn-in code into the control panel for activating a learn-in mode at the control panel. The sensor is only enabled to communicate with the control panel if the control panel determines that the entered learn-in code matches a stored learn-in code.

Communications from the door lock to the door frame may be provided by varying a load on the second electromagnetic coil and detecting the load change at the first electromagnetic coil.

  • Patent number: 9672674
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing secure locks having redundant access channels are disclosed. In some embodiments of the invention, the smart lock has a hardware processor, a power source, a cylinder, a button that forms a rose knob, and a rose protector. The rose knob and rose protector protect and conceal the hardware processor, the power source, and the cylinder. The rose protector forms an annular groove that slidably interlocks with the rose knob. The rose knob has a plurality of redundant access channels for receiving authentication information. The redundant access channels may include a biometric scanner for receiving biometric information, a passcode keypad for entering a token, or a wireless transceiver for receiving a token from a mobile device and transmitting a response to the mobile device. When the user cannot open the lock through the first redundant access channel, the smart lock is configured to allow access through a second access channel.

  • Patent number: 9652908
Abstract: A system for selectively opening a vehicle includes a first communication module for establishing a communication link to a service provider who obtains authorization data via a communication network, a first identification routine for unambiguously identifying the service provider, and a second communication module for establishing, via wireless communication, a communication link to a control unit of an access arrangement on a vehicle. A second identification routine allows the access arrangement to unambiguously identify the system. A third communication module receives update request data from the driver. An update routine updates authorization data in a memory of the system. When authorization is valid, the control unit receives a profiled control signal via the communication link, the profiled control signal causing the vehicle to be selectively opened via the control unit.

Abstract: A portable machine has a signal receivable area in which, when the portable machine approaches one of a plurality of LF transmitters provided to a vehicle at a first distance, a response request signal only from the LF transmitter is receivable by the portable machine and when the portable machine approaches one of the plurality of LF transmitters at a second distance shorter than the first distance, response request signals from the LF transmitter and any of the remaining LF transmitters are receivable by the portable machine. If the portable machine receives the response request signal from only one of the LF transmitters within a predetermined time period and the response request signal has an RSSI value not less than a threshold, control (door locking/unlocking, engine start, and the like) to the vehicle is inhibited.

Abstract: A wireless access control system for a door may include a lock assembly carried by the door. The lock assembly may include a lock, lock wireless communications circuitry, a door position determining device, a touch sensor to sense touching by a user, and a lock controller. A remote access device may be remote from the lock assembly and may to communicate with the lock wireless communications circuitry. The lock controller may be configured to determine when the door is moved in a pattern based upon the door position determining device, perform an authentication of the remote access device based upon determining the door being moved in the pattern, and switch the lock from the unlocked position to the locked position based upon the authentication and the user touching the touch sensor.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems, methods, and articles of manufacture for controlling a door. In various embodiments, exemplary systems may include a controller that may initialize and/or reset a limit count. A controller may initialize and/or reset a limit count in response to detection by a first position sensor of a first target. A controller may further initialize and/or reset a limit count by incrementing the limit count in response to a signal from a gear tooth sensor until a second position sensor detects a second target, whereupon the controller may store the limit count.

Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a network access control system that includes a server encrypting a first identifier that can be related to a registered user and communicating the encrypted first identifier to the mobile device. The lock device receives, from the mobile device, a first data set that includes at least the encrypted first identifier. The lock device may encrypt the first data set to generate a second data set and communicates the encrypted second data set to the mobile device. The server receives a third data set that includes at least the encrypted second data set and a second identifier that can also be related to the registered user. The server extracts from the communicated third data set the first and second identifiers, and the extracted first and second identifiers are compared to verify that the second identifier is indeed related to the first identifier.

Abstract: A locker rental system includes electronic lockers centrally managed by a locker manager. The locker manager is in communication with a separate external system, which handles admissions and sales for a venue. Users are provided with a unique external identification (ID) code for purposes such as admission to the venue. Determinative sequences of the external ID codes are provided to the locker manager as validation codes. When the external ID code is scanned, the locker manager validates the external ID code using the validation codes. A valid external ID code may be used to rent and access lockers in the locker system. In some implementations, locker rights may be sold through the external system and details of the transaction provided to the locker manager. If the external ID code is valid, the locker manager generates a rental plan.
