  • Patent number: 8613049
Abstract: The invention provides a network system which can prevent an illegal access to a network or the like set in a specific area and improve security of the network. The network system permits the entering of the user into a security area in accordance with security information (user ID) read out of a contactless IC in a carrying ID card by an entering/leaving room managing apparatus and registers an MAC address of a notebook computer carried by the user when he enters the security area to a managing server as ID information corresponding to the user ID. When a leaving request of the user is received through the entering/leaving room managing apparatus, the network system deletes the registered ID information and restricts connection between the notebook computer and the network on the basis of a registration situation of the ID information to the managing server.

  • Patent number: 8581694
Abstract: An RFID tag interrogator is described. The interrogator comprises a time-out circuit and an actuatable RF signal generator for transmitting an electromagnetic signal. Upon first actuation, the RF signal generator transmits a first electromagnetic signal having a first limited total continuous transmit time that is no longer than a predetermined transmit-time. That transmission is followed by an interim period of a defined length where the time-out circuit renders the interrogator incapable of transmitting the electromagnetic signal. The interim period is followed by the RF signal generator transmitting a second electromagnetic signal having a second limited total continuous transmit time that is no longer than the predetermined transmit time. The time-out circuit prevents the first, second and subsequent transmissions of the electromagnetic signal that are each no longer than the predetermined transmit time after a prior electromagnetic signal has been transmitted until the interim period has expired.

Abstract: An access control gate with a mechanical guide forms one or more access lanes for patrons. A contactless access reader which is connected to a software controlled verification system identifies access right of patrons shortly before the person approaches a gate threshold formed by two motor driven flaps which when closed protrude into the access lane from left and right of the lateral lane boundaries. A verification system activates the flaps when an access right has been granted. Two or more photoelectric barriers define a detection zone behind the gate threshold and detect the passage of patrons through the gate threshold and the exit of the detection zone. The flaps are closed with highest possible speed after the patron has left the detection zone regularly, and are moved with low speed if an irregular passage is detected.

  • Patent number: 8441336
Abstract: A system for protecting high-value cargo enclosed in a container, while maintaining the container indistinguishable from similar low value shipments, includes an onboard identity module (OBIM) cooperative with an internal locking mechanism (ILM), both of which are externally undetectable. The OBIM can secure the ILM and prevent the container from being opened until a properly encoded unlocking signal from a Security Management System (SMS) is wirelessly received by the OBIM. The unlocking signal can be a composite including a plurality of species of wireless signals such as different frequencies of AM and FM encoded RF and acoustic signals, transmitted simultaneously and/or at specified intervals. In embodiments the OBIM enables remote tracking of the container, and in some embodiments the tracking is double-blind, whereby a Master Number (MN) recorded in shipping documents is associated with a “Random Number” (RN) used for tracking, the association being known only to the SMS.

Abstract: Methods and systems for door access and patient monitoring are described. The patient monitoring system includes a door access control system coupled to one or more doors of a facility for monitoring and controlling the access of patients coupled to a patient monitoring device. Whenever a patient coupled to a patient monitoring device comes within a predetermined distance of a particular door the door access control system transmits a first signal encoded with the door location data to the patient monitoring device. The patient monitoring device then transmits a second signal encoded with the door location data and patient identification data of the patient coupled to the monitoring device to the door access control system and a monitoring system that controls the door access and monitoring of patient within the facility.

Abstract: Methods and systems for an automation and security system including a first sensor, a second sensor, and a controller. The first sensor detects a signal from an identification device indicative of a first authorized person in an exterior area near a door. The second sensor is coupled to a handle on the exterior surface of the door to detect a touch to the handle. The controller is configured to operate one or more lighting devices and a lock associated with the door. When the controller receives a signal from the first sensor indicative of the identification device in the exterior area near the door, it initiates a timer and operates one or more lighting devices to indicate a condition detected by the automation and security system. When the controller receives a signal from the second sensor indicative of a touch to the handle after the initiation of the timer and before the timer expires, it unlocks the door and turns on one or more lights in an interior area.

Abstract: A device remote control system configured for use with an automobile remote keyless entry is disclosed herein. The device is specifically configured for use in association with a remote keyless entry key fob. The key fob is operable to transmit at least one automobile instruction signal, such as a door lock signal, door unlock signal, trunk release signal, or other automobile instruction signal. The device comprises a receiver, a processor, and a transmitter. The receiver is configured to receive the automobile instruction signal transmitted by the key fob and deliver the signal to the processor. The processor analyzes the signal and determines whether it is an appropriate signal indicating that a device such as a garage door should be opened or closed. The transmitter is configured to transmit a device operation signal in response to the processor when the processor indicates that the device should be operated.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling access from a first area to a second area includes receiving an identity signal from an identifier input device, and checking for stored data indicating that the identity represented by the identity signal is registered as present in the first area. If a predetermined access requirement is fulfilled, then a pass signal at the first access controller is generated. To control access from the second area to a third area, an enter message is sent to a second controller with at least the identity and data indicating that the identity is present in an access area of the second controller. An exit message is sent to a third controller controlling access to the first area, including at least the identity and data indicating that the identity is not present in an access area of the third controller.

Abstract: A method and system provides conditional allowance of access by operating a movable barrier such that access is not granted unless another condition is met. In one illustrative approach, a first signal is received and, if a second signal is received within a set time frame relative to receipt of the second signal, a movable barrier operator is then activated. By one approach, one of the signals is a long-range transmission, and the other signal is a visual-range transmission.
