  • Patent number: 12167243
Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying an identity of a first user involves receiving, at a server, a request from a communicatively coupled device of a second user to access information of the first user. The request includes information retrieved from a passive communication device associated with the first user and location information of the communicatively coupled device. In response, a location of an authenticated mobile device of the first user is determined, and when a location match is present, the identity of the first user is confirmed to the second user, and the second user is permitted to provide input into an account of the first user, such as for rating and reporting the performance of the first user. When a location match is not present, a message is transmitted to the second user indicating the identity of the first user is not confirmed and instructions provided to take action.

  • Patent number: 11710397
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting potential theft and identifying individuals having a history of committing theft use an electromagnetic emission associated with a personal electronic device associated with an individual is received from at least one of a sensor that is coupled to at least one of a traffic camera or an aerial drone camera. One or more signal properties of the electromagnetic emission are analyzed to determine an emission signature. Video data and video analytics are correlated with the emission signature to identify the individual having possession of the item. The emission signature and video data are stored for later use during a checkout procedure. If an emission signature detected at a checkout station matches that of the individual having possession of the item, and the item is not processed through the checkout station, an alert is issued and the individual is flagged as a potential shoplifter.

Abstract: Examples associated with user authentication are described. One example system includes a set of authentication modules. A data store stores data describing disruption ratings of members of the set of authentication modules. A user confidence module maintains a confidence rating that a current user of a device is an authenticated user of the device. The confidence module controls execution of the authentication modules based on the confidence rating and on the disruption ratings of the authentication modules. The user confidence module controls execution of relatively less disruptive authentication modules when the user confidence module is confident that the current user of the device is the authenticated user of the device. Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and a device for estimating the value of an input in a real-time system. It concerns more particularly real time interactive systems where the input is tracked using a first sensor, typically a camera in presence of a perturbing factor. The perturbing factor is estimated using a second sensor. The component of input computed values due to the perturbing factor are cancelled based on this estimation. A next input value is then estimated from the previous computed input values where the perturbing factor has been cancelled. The estimation is then corrected by applying back the estimation of the perturbing factor.

Each portable device is configured to: 1) receive the timing synchronization information, 2) detect the ultrasonic location codes from the ultrasonic base stations and 3) transmit an output signal including a portable device ID representative of the portable device and the detected ultrasonic location code. Each portable device is synchronized to detect the ultrasonic location code in the time period based on the received timing synchronization information.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for switching at least one electrical consumer in a building comprising an elevator system. The switched electrical consumer is, for example, a camera. The camera is activated if when using the elevator system the user does not actuate a building door within an ascertained route time, i.e. the user does not arrive at his/her destination. It is possible using an image recorded by the camera to establish whether the user is possibly in a dangerous situation.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for excluding individuals from retail analytics. Pedestrian traffic within a predetermined area is monitored via a video sensor to determine a video entrance. The video entrance may correspond to entrances of the predetermined area by a first set of individuals. The pedestrian traffic may also be monitored via a plurality of wireless sensors to determine a wireless entrance. The wireless entrance may correspond to entrances by a second set of individuals. The video entrance and the wireless entrance are compared to determine if any of the entrances associated with a video timestamp match any of the entrances with a wireless timestamp. An overall entrance count corresponding to the number of customers entering the predetermined area is determined. Retail analytics excluding employees may subsequently be calculated using the overall entrance count.

  • Patent number: 9547982
Abstract: A controlling device such as a remote control has programming for transmitting a signal response to a plurality of control environments, each environment including a signaling device. Each signaling device in receipt of the signal request sends a signal response having a unique ID which is chosen to be characteristically attenuated by the surroundings of the environment. Because the controlling device can only be in one environment at a given time, and given the attenuation characteristics of the signal response from each signaling device, only one signal response will be received by the controlling device in each environment. Location definitions associated with the received unique ID may be used by programming in the controlling device to recall saved devices states, commands sets, macros, and even to dynamically generate commands based on the location information.

  • Patent number: 9538351
Abstract: A device may receive a first request to authenticate a user device for an emergency phone call requested by the user device via a wireless local area network (WLAN). The device may authenticate the user device based on the first request. The device may provide an authentication acceptance message, indicating that the user device is authenticated, based on authenticating the user device. The device may receive a second request, based on providing the authentication message, to establish the emergency phone call. The second request may include an emergency access point name (APN). The device may determine that the emergency APN is not provisioned for the user device. The device may provide, based on determining that the emergency APN is not provisioned, an instruction to allow the emergency phone call from the user device using the preconfigured APN.

  • Patent number: 9525705
Abstract: A system and method can support on-device operation management. A token issuer on a backend server, and/or a tool, can generate an authorization token, which is bound to a user of one or more devices using a unique identifier (ID) that is assigned to the user. The unique ID can be known and/or shared between the an on-device authorizing entity and the token issuer. Then, the on-device authorizing entity can verify the authorization token before granting an execution of one or more protected on-device operations. Furthermore, the on-device authorizing entity may not grant the execution of the one or more protected on-device operations, when the unique ID is erased from the device.

  • Patent number: 9063574
Abstract: The amount of power and processing needed to process gesture input for a computing device can be reduced by utilizing a separate gesture sensor. The gesture sensor can have a form factor similar to that of conventional camera elements, in order to reduce costs by being able to utilize readily available low cost parts, but can have a lower resolution and adjustable virtual shutter such that fast motions can be captured and/or recognized by the device. In some devices, a subset of the pixels of the gesture sensor can be used as a motion detector, enabling the gesture sensor to run in a low power state unless there is likely gesture input to process. Further, at least some of the processing and circuitry can be included with the gesture sensor such that various functionality can be performed without accessing a central processor or system bus, thus further reducing power consumption.
