Abstract: A server-side biometric authentication system is disclosed that can split data knowledge and processes, so that extensive collusion would be required in order for a fraudster to compromise the system. Biometric data provided by a user during authentication can be matched with a combination of pieces of a biometric template stored across two or more server(s), rather than on a consumer device as is typically done. More specifically, at the time of enrollment, a biometric template can be split into two or more fragments. Each of the fragments can be encrypted and stored on a template storage server. At a later point in time, during authentication, biometric data provided by a user (e.g., from a fingerprint) can be compared against a reconstructed version of the biometric template where each fragment of the template is retrieved from a matcher computer and combined together.

In various embodiments, one or more high-resolution cameras having one or more lens and filter attachments operate in conjunction with one or more auxiliary illumination devices and a related computer system. According to various embodiments, an auxiliary illumination device can be synchronized to one or more cameras, and configured to supply auxiliary illumination to facilitate capture of accurate and usable images. The filter(s) and advanced image processing solutions assist with facial detection and identifying individuals inside a vehicle, removing light glare and undesired reflections from a window surface, and capturing an image through a tinted window, among other things. Further, embodiments can compare a captured image to an authenticated image from a database, in order to confirm the identity of a vehicle occupant.

Abstract: Systems and methods for electronically leashing a user to a mobile device. A user is authenticated on the mobile device and initial sensor data (e.g., radio signal readings, accelerometer readings, image/video, audio) is collected. Based on a timer or other triggering event, additional sensor data is captured and evaluated. Based on the evaluation of the sensor data, a value representing a likelihood of whether the device remains in possession of the user is determined. Upon determining that this value is less than a threshold, the user is required to reauthenticate on the mobile device to further engage with the device or particular features on the device.

Abstract: System, device, and method of secure utilization of fingerprints for user authentication. A method includes: capturing a fingerprint that a particular user provides to an electronic device; generating a raw fingerprint signature that corresponds to bodily features of the fingerprint of the particular user; monitoring user interactions of the particular user, during the capturing of the raw fingerprint, via one or more input units of the electronic device; extracting from the monitored user interactions a user-specific characteristic that is user-specific to the interactions of the particular user; generating a user-specific reference fused data-item, by utilizing both: (I) the raw fingerprint signature that was generated, and (II) the user-specific characteristic that was extracted; subsequently, utilizing the reference fused data-item as a reference for user-authentication.

Abstract: A transaction terminal silent alarm system having processor(s) and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor(s), cause the system to perform a method is disclosed. Upon receiving, from a user device, an authentication request to complete a transaction at a transaction terminal, the system may determine whether a fingerprint scan matches a stored fingerprint. Responsive to the fingerprint scan matching a stored normal fingerprint and absent receiving another fingerprint that matches a stored cancellation fingerprint, the system may direct the transaction terminal to complete the transaction. Responsive to the fingerprint scan matching a stored under-duress fingerprint, the system may direct the transaction terminal to send a silent alert to law enforcement and direct the transaction terminal to delay the transaction. Responsive to the fingerprint scan not matching any stored fingerprints, the system may direct the user device to display a fingerprint rescan message.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to employing various methods and devices to access a vehicle and controlling a level of access granted based on the device and methods employed. Controlling access to a vehicle can comprise maintaining a plurality of security profiles, each security profile associated with a different access device or type of access device. When the presence of an access device in proximity to the vehicle or a request to access the vehicle is detected, a security profile associated with the detected access device or the request to access the vehicle can be retrieved and used to determine whether to grant access to the vehicle. In response to determining to grant access to the vehicle, access to the vehicle can be provided according to an access level for the detected access device or the request to access the vehicle identified in the retrieved security profile.

  • Patent number: 10371629
Abstract: The apparatus enables biometric authentication without the risk of forgery or the like and enables living-tissue discrimination. The roughness distribution pattern of deep-layer tissue of the skin covered with epidermal tissue is detected, thereby extracting a unique pattern of the living tissue. Biometric authentication is performed based upon the detected pattern. The roughness distribution pattern of the deep-layer tissue of the skin is optically detected using difference in optical properties between the epidermal tissue and the deep-layer tissue of the skin. Long-wavelength light, e.g., near-infrared light, is used as illumination light cast onto the skin tissue. A fork structure of a subcutaneous blood vessel is used as the portion which is to be detected, for example. The portion which is to be detected is determined based upon the structure of the fork structure. The living-tissue discrimination may be made using the subcutaneous blood vessel.
