  • Patent number: 12243313
Abstract: Virtual sensor technology, in which a camera is controlled to capture at least one configuration image of an area monitored by a monitoring system and input is received that defines one or more characteristics of the at least one configuration image that enable sensing of an event in the area. Based on the received input, configuration data used in sensing the event is generated and stored. After storage of the configuration data, the camera is controlled to capture one or more images of the area, the one or more images are analyzed based on the configuration data, and occurrence of the event is detected based on the analysis of the one or more images. Based on detecting occurrence of the event, a transmitting device is controlled to send, to a controller of the monitoring system, a signal that indicates the detection of the occurrence of the event.

  • Patent number: 11687932
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for authenticating a user in connection with a network transaction by the user, based on a biometric combination for the user. One exemplary method includes receiving an authorization request for a network transaction by a user where the authorization request includes biometric data representing at least first and second biometrics of the user. The method also includes converting the biometric data to a personal identification number (PIN) specific to the biometric data, where the first biometric is converted to a first character of the PIN and the second biometric is converted to a second character of the PIN. The method further includes appending the PIN to the authorization request and transmitting the authorization request to an issuer, thereby permitting the issuer to approve or decline the network transaction based, at least in part, on the PIN included in the authorization request.

Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying users in connection with transactions are disclosed. One exemplary method includes, in response to a payment device being inserted at a terminal, initiating, by a security chip of the payment device, a timer and capturing, by a biometric sensor of the payment device, a fingerprint while the timer is unexpired. The method also includes verifying, by the security chip, the captured fingerprint against reference fingerprint data stored in memory in the payment device and, in response to the captured fingerprint being verified, while the timer is unexpired, initiating, by the security chip, with the terminal, a transaction to an account using an account number specific to a biometric application of the payment device. An issuer can recognize verification of a user associated with the fingerprint based on the account number in an authorization request, instead of a different account number for the account.
