Abstract: When large vehicles and small vehicles travel together in a mine, they are distinguishably detected. On a haulage vehicle for a mine, a first obstacle detection device and a second obstacle detection device are disposed. The obstacle detection devices are disposed so that they have detection directions oriented in a same direction in horizontal planes, respectively. The first obstacle detection device 111 is disposed at a height where it can detect each small vehicle, while the second obstacle detection device 112 is disposed at a height where it can detect each large vehicle without detection of any small vehicle. On the basis of detection results of the first obstacle detection device 111 and second obstacle detection device 112, a detection processing device 120 determines whether an object is a small vehicle or a large vehicle.

Abstract: An on-chip temperature sensing device is disclosed. The disclosed on-chip temperature sensing device is capable of sensing an environmental temperature of the chip. The device comprises a reference generating circuit, a first oscillator, a second oscillator, and an arithmetic logic unit. The reference generating circuit is configured to generate a first control voltage to control the first oscillator and the second oscillator. The bias current of the first oscillator and the bias current of the second oscillator are both controlled by the first control voltage so that the bias current of the first oscillator is directly proportional the bias current of the second oscillator regardless the environmental temperature. The first oscillator generates a first oscillation signal, while the second oscillator generates a second oscillation signal. The arithmetic logic unit may calculate the environmental temperature according to the first oscillation signal and the second oscillation signal.

Abstract: A SINR-based intrusion detection system comprises a first antenna, a second antenna, and an arithmetic unit connected to the second antenna. The first antenna simultaneously transmits one or plural beams having mutually different frequencies in an enclosed space so as to cover the enclosed space. The second antenna receives signals of the one or plural beams so as to capture signal parameters of the beam. The arithmetic unit is connected to the second antenna and detects the signal parameters in an always-on manner so as to obtain a SINR value from the signal parameters, comparing the SINR value to a predetermined threshold range, and determining that there is object intrusion when the SINR value falls within the predetermined threshold range.

Abstract: Because reprocessing or refurbishing of physiological sensors reuses large portions of an existing sensor, the material costs for refurbishing sensors is significantly lower than the material costs for making an entirely new sensor. Typically, existing reprocessors replace only the adhesive portion of an adhesive physiological sensor and reuse the sensing components. However, re-using the sensing components can reduce the reliability of the refurbished sensor and/or reduce the number of sensors eligible for refurbishing due to out-of-specification sensor components. It is therefore desirable to provide a process for refurbishing physiological sensors that replaces the sensing components of the sensor. While sensing components are replaced, generally, sensor cable and/or patient monitor attachments are retained, resulting in cost savings over producing new sensors.

Abstract: A detecting device includes at least one transmitter and plural receivers. After the at least one transmitter emits plural incident light beams to a detection zone, plural reflected light beams reflected from the detection zone are received by the plural receivers. If no object is moved within the detection zone, the plural reflected light beams strike a first part of the plural receivers, so that the plural receivers are in an initial reception configuration. If an object is moved within the detection zone, the plural reflected light beams are disturbed by the object and deflected to a second part of the plural receivers, so that the plural receivers are in a disturbed reception configuration. According to the reception configuration change, a moving direction of the object within the detection zone is determined. Consequently, the detecting range is largely enhanced, and the cost is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8542109
Abstract: An intrusion detection system that provides foliage penetration is disclosed employing an array of field disturbance transceivers operating at UHF frequencies. The array of transceivers generate a multiplicity of electromagnetic wave fields between nearby units and detect the presence of intruders by detecting disturbances in these fields. The emitted UHF signals used to generate the electromagnetic wave fields are also used to provide the communication link between transceivers in the array and to a control station. The control station facilitates the operation of the array from a remote monitoring site. A unique method of array deployment provides multiple opportunities to detect an intruder and secondarily provides redundant communication links in case of a sensor failure. Automatic means of setting detection thresholds based on environmental conditions assures a high probability of detection along with a low false alarm rate.

Abstract: An entrance denial security system comprises an entrance barrier closing an entrance into a secured area having a plurality of structural tubular elements with hollow cores forming a rigid integral barrier. At least one optical fiber sensor line is laced through the hollow cores of the structural elements for detecting a fault condition signifying an unauthorized intrusion attempt. A processor in communication with the fiber sensor line generates a fault signal in response to the occurrence of a fault condition and identifying the entrance where the fault condition occurred. A communication device operatively associated with the processor communicates the fault signal and an alarm so that a proper security response can be made to the fault condition. The system further comprises a plurality of intrusion sensors disposed at certain locations.
