Abstract: A casing includes a base, a trigger switch, an alarm device, and a cover. The base includes a first side plate and a second side plate perpendicular to the first side plate. The trigger switch is mounted to an inner side of the first side plate. A resilient tab is formed on a top of the trigger switch. The alarm device is electrically connected to the trigger switch. The cover covers on a top of the base and deforms the resilient tab down. A recess is defined in a bottom surface of the cover and located between the second side plate and the resilient tab. When the cover is slid away from the second side plate, the recess aligns with the resilient tab. The resilient tab enters the recess and restores. The trigger switch triggers the alarm device to alarm.

Abstract: The invention relates to a proximity detection system. The invention provides a proximity detection system comprising a generator that generates a magnetic field that establishes a boundary, where the generator is capable of receiving radio frequency signals. Also provided is a radio frequency device that sends radio frequency signals, the radio frequency device being capable of sensing the magnetic field and generating a radio frequency response. In the proximity detection system, the generator generates the magnetic field for a first predefined time period, and thereafter senses for a radio frequency response signal from the radio frequency device within a second predefined time period. The invention also provides for shaping proximity detection zones by overlaying magnetic field boundaries to produce a different boundary. The invention also provides for varying the strength of magnetic fields by adjusting a width of a timed pulse.

  • Patent number: 8760310
Abstract: Clip-worn apparatuses having sensor clips configured to detect whether electronic devices, such as communications headsets, are being worn (i.e., “donned” or “DON'd”) or are not being worn (i.e., “doffed” or “DOFF'd”) by a user. An exemplary clip-worn apparatus includes a DON/DOFF sensor clip having a clip with a first end and an opposing second end. The first end includes a source (e.g., a light source). The opposing second end includes a detector (e.g., a light detector). When the clip-worn apparatus is DOFF'd, a detection path between the source and the detector is clear and unobstructed. When the clip-worn apparatus is DON'd (by clipping the DON/DOFF sensor clip to a target object, e.g., a user's ear), the target object becomes positioned between the source and the detector, thereby obstructing the detection path between the source and the detector.

  • Patent number: 8760275
Abstract: As a user is interacting with a mobile device, the user is sometimes distracted from impending obstacles that may be approaching the user. The mobile device can detect an approaching obstacle and can determine that the user is also interacting with the mobile device. Upon detecting these two events, the user of the mobile device is notified of the approaching obstacle using various notification methods, such as displaying a message to the user or using an audible sound or message. The notification can also include interrupting an application on the mobile device, such as a video game, to display a message to the user of the approaching obstacle. The system and method also comprise a distributed architecture where detection of the approaching obstacle is accomplished external to the mobile device. For example, a detection module in an automobile or airplane can be used to detect approaching obstacles.

  • Patent number: 8754751
Abstract: An apparatus and system that provides for the wireless receiving, storing and analysis of digital data as part of an RFID enabled motor vehicle license plate in wireless communication with a mobile interrogator for obtaining data such as license plate number and optionally, a VIN. When combined with additional RFID tags, information such as wireless driver license data retrieval, VIN, and other user defined information such as data relating to insurance policy information, addresses, registration information, driving records, driving restrictions and the like may be accessed. Data is wirelessly passed upon receipt of a valid request signal from a law enforcement vehicle, through a law enforcement portal to centralized databases in order analyze and verify the same. The invention also provides for non-law enforcement information such as parking and repossession information, which would be similarly processed for parking and repossession agents, but through separate non-law enforcement databases.

Abstract: An electronic device for providing tactile feedback is provided. The electronic device may provide tactile feedback using any suitable approach, including for example vibration, heat, electrical, visual, or any other type of feedback. The electronic device may provide tactile feedback in response to detecting any particular status of the electronic device, receiving any particular input, or detecting any suitable communication received by the electronic device. For example, the electronic device may provide tactile feedback in response to identifying the current network of the device, the status of a particular electronic device component, or any other electronic device status; in response to receiving a particular type of communication or in response to receiving a communication from a particular contact; or in response to receiving a particular user input or to detecting a user's finger on a particular portion of the electronic device.

Abstract: An augmented reality system, an assembling method for assembling a first set-up component to a second set-up component under the assistance of an augmented reality system, a method for monitoring a set-up component and a method for transmitting data from or to a set-up component are provided. The augmented realty system may capture a variable marker associated with the respective set-up component. The augmented reality system can recognize the location and/or status of the variable marker and thus decide whether the connection between the first and second set-up component is established correctly or not. Further, data can be transmitted by the variable marker monitored by the augmented reality system.

  • Patent number: 8723680
Abstract: An emergency respondence warning system for warning of the approach of emergency vehicles at roadway intersections. The warning system comprises a transmitter mountable to an emergency vehicle and a receiver situated near the roadway intersection. As the emergency vehicle approaches the intersection, the transmitter sends signals to the receiver, which are processed by the receiver when the vehicle is within a predetermined distance. The receiver activates a distinct visual warning signal alerting nearby drivers and pedestrians of the approach of an emergency vehicle. The emergency respondence warning system also warns of the approach of multiple emergency vehicles. When the receiver determines that two emergency vehicles are approaching the intersection, it activates the warning element but triggers a dedicated visual signal indicating the approach of multiple vehicles.
