Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of apparatus and methods that provide light emitting displays with improved wide angle color viewing. A plurality of light emitting elements is arranged in a predetermined pattern and collectively creates a viewing plane. A portion of the light emitting elements are disposed in a primary orientation while the remainder of the light emitting element are disposed in a complementary orientation. Each light emitting element in a primary orientation is adjacent to a light emitting element in the complementary orientation. The spatial light emission pattern of the primary orientation is complementary to the spatial light emission pattern of the complementary orientation. Adjacent pairs of primary-complementary oriented light emitting elements cancel a substantial amount of color variation that would otherwise be seen when one varies the gaze angle upon the viewing plane.

The lock restricts removal of the bezel from the chassis when the lock is engaged in a locked orientation (LO). The lock includes a cam bracket (CamB) that rotates between locked and unlocked orientations. In the LO, the CamB constrains the CB from moving inward on the path by abutting the CB; CB is confined between the LB and CamB. In the unlocked orientation, the CamB is disposed out of the CB's path, allowing the CB to retract inward to the release position, which allows the bezel to detach from the panel.

  • Patent number: 10096230
Abstract: A safety device that is worn by a worker in a manufacturing facility is presented. The safety device includes a microprocessor, memory, an antenna and transceiver and a plurality of sensors that sense environmental conditions surrounding the worker such as light levels, noise levels, temperature, humidity, air quality and CO levels. The safety device also tracks the position of the worker and includes an accelerometer that detects trips and falls. The safety device also includes an event trigger which can be activated by the worker when a notable event or near miss occurs. The environmental information recorded by the safety device is used to both track accidents and near misses and is aggregated in a database for datamining purposes so as to predict future accidents and near misses. This information is also used to create correlations and better understand the root cause of accidents and near misses.

  • Patent number: 10008107
Abstract: A method and surveillance system are presented for detecting and alarming intrusions that are caused by unwanted people in a protected area, by exploiting interactions between the wireless communication and monitoring devices of the surveillance system but no special sensors. An intrusion in the protected area is primarily detected by analyzing the variation of the wireless channel observed at the wireless communication device, and further confirmed by images captured by the monitoring device, where the image capture can be triggered by the intrusion detection result. The threshold used to primarily determine the existence of an intrusion is self-calibrated by comparing the result of the channel-variation based intrusion detection with the findings of the captured images. Moreover, an intrusion caused by authorized people of the protected area is identified through checking the connection status of the secured wireless communication network in the protected area, and then filtered out.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for enhancing indoor navigation using light-based communication (LCom). In some embodiments, an LCom-enabled luminaire configured as described herein may include or have access to a sensor configured to detect a hazardous condition. In response to detection of a hazard, the LCom-enabled luminaire may adjust its light output, transmit an LCom signal, or both, in accordance with some embodiments. A given LCom signal may include data that may be utilized by a recipient computing device, for example, in providing emergency evacuation routing or other indoor navigation with hazard avoidance, emergency assistance, or both. In a network of such luminaires, data distribution via inter-luminaire communication may be provided, in accordance with some embodiments, via an optical interface or other wired or wireless communication means. In some cases, the network may include a luminaire that is not LCom-enabled yet still configured for inter-luminaire communication.

  • Patent number: 9967524
Abstract: A user-centric management application system and method for a security system that conceptualizes the security devices and the tasks to perform on the security devices as separate objects with common properties and behavior. Operators of the system create abstract containers, called dockviews, which the operator adds objects to in order to perform specific tasks. Because the operator assigns user access to dockviews and objects, the system tailors system access for both application users and tenants of the security system based on policy objectives. Dockviews have the ability to open in separate application windows to support priority display and isolation of critical management tasks. The system provides integrated user administration, event management and reports capability, a consistent “look and feel,” and system-wide automated event notification via a watchlist window.

Abstract: Methods and sensors for selective fluid sensing are provided. Each sensor includes a resonant inductor-capacitor-resistor (LCR) sensor that is coated with a sensing material. In order to collect data, an impedance spectrum is acquired over a relatively narrow frequency range, such as the resonant frequency range of the LCR circuit. A multivariate signature may be calculated from the acquired spectrum to discern the presence of certain fluids and/or fluid mixtures. The presence of fluids is detected by measuring the changes in dielectric, dimensional, resistance, charge transfer, and other changes in the properties of the materials employed by observing the changes in the resonant electronic properties of the circuit. By using a mathematical procedure, such as principal components analysis (PCA) and others, multiple fluids and mixtures can be detected in the presence of one another, even in a high humidity environment or an environment wherein one or more fluids has a substantially higher concentration (e.g.
