Received Signal Includes Power Command Patents (Class 340/7.36)
  • Patent number: 11147025
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an electronic apparatus includes receiver circuitry, transmitter circuitry, and processor circuitry. The receiver circuitry receives a first signal including first data via a first frequency band. The transmitter circuitry starts transmission of a second signal via at least a part of the first frequency band. The processor circuitry reduces interference caused by the second signal to receive the first signal. The processor circuitry increases a power of the second signal until reducing the interference becomes stable for the first time since the transmitter circuitry has started transmission of the second signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to power management within the context of wireless ad-hoc networks. More specifically to the effects of using different transmit powers on the average power consumption and end-to-end network throughput in a wireless ad-hoc environment. This power management approach reduces the system power consumption and thereby prolongs the battery life of mobile nodes. Furthermore, the invention improves the end-to-end network throughput as compared to other ad-hoc networks in which all mobile nodes use the same transmit power. The improvement is due to the achievement of a tradeoff between minimizing interference ranges, reduction in the average number of hops to reach a destination, reducing the probability of having isolated clusters, and reducing the average number of transmissions including retransmissions due to collisions. The present invention provides a network with enhanced end-to-end throughput performance, and lower transmit power.

Abstract: Provided is a low-power wireless communication apparatus and method. In the apparatus, a low-noise amplifier amplifies an RF signal in an on state, the low-noise amplifier be turned on/off according to a predetermined control signal. A wake-up signal detector detects a wake-up signal from the amplified RF signal. A controller provides the predetermined control signal such that the low-noise amplifier and the wake-up signal detector operate at a predetermined on-off duty ratio in a sleep mode corresponding to an Rx waiting state, and switching to an Rx mode to maintain the on state of the low-noise amplifier when the wake-up signal is detected.

  • Patent number: 6920342
Abstract: An electronic device has an operating mode and an energy saving standby mode. The electronic device includes an input-side antenna element for receiving a signal carrying information, a receiving unit for processing the basic information carried on the signal, a voltage supply unit for providing the supply voltage required for operation, and a switching unit for switching between the operating mode and the standby mode. First, to minimize the current being drawn in the standby mode, and second to ensure quick and reliable switching from the energy saving standby mode to the operating mode as required, it is proposed that the signal carrying the information includes a number of modulated frequency bands. At least one frequency band is intended for the basic information to be processed by the receiving unit. The other frequency band contains wake-up information for actuating the switching unit.

  • Patent number: 6747567
Abstract: An electronic apparatus wherein a remote control signal received via a filter is decoded and, upon deciding that the control signal is a power cutoff instruction, a controlling microcomputer outputs a filter control signal for actuating the filter to place the apparatus in a reception standby mode while the microcomputer itself is also set in its low power state, hence preventing a malfunction that some noise derived from external light of a fluorescent lamp or the like is recognized erroneously as a remote control signal and that the apparatus is shifted in error from the low power state to its wake-up mode. Consequently, the power consumption can be reduced in the standby mode. The remote control signal consists of a fixed-width pulse and a succeeding control code, and upon detection of the fixed-width pulse, the controlling microcomputer is released from the low power state to wake up and then halts the operation of the filter.

  • Patent number: 6618580
Abstract: A portable computer or a similar electronic device having a wireless data communication device such as a Bluetooth transceiver is provided with a power down procedure activated by a remote control device. For example, a single key remote control device emits a radio frequency signal bearing a power down control signal that is transmitted to the portable computer. The control signal is received by a receiver separate from the wireless communication device and initiates a power down process that first causes the portable computer to wake up from a sleep state, if the computer is in a sleep or similar state. The communication device or the computer then invokes a driver that either directly initiates a power down sequence or that invokes another program that initiates a power down sequence. A log file is written during power down that indicates the state of the computer at the time that the power down control signal was received.
