Particular Message And Address Format (e.g., Pocsag, Flex, Etc.) Patents (Class 340/7.43)
  • Patent number: 12072865
Abstract: A method services competing updates from multiple servicing instances. An update message is received by a class of a plurality of classes that service an object. The update message includes an update to the object and an expected version for the object. A version match is determined between the expected version and a current version of the object. When the version match is successful, the update is applied to the object. A response message including the current version of the object is generated. The response message is transmitted. When the update is successfully applied, the response message is transmitted as a success message. When the update is not successfully applied, the response message is transmitted as a failure message.

  • Patent number: 9794759
Abstract: A paging channel is monitored at a special position of every predetermined time interval subsequent to the last monitored time. It is detected whether a same first identity information is repeatedly broadcasted in the paging channel at special positions of different predetermined time interval. A total number of periodically repeated messages containing the same first identity information is determined. A new time interval is determined by multiplying a time period between two successive repeated paging messages with the total number of periodically repeated paging messages, wherein the new time interval has a monitoring interval (having a plurality of predetermined time intervals) equaling to the length of the time period and a sleep interval. The paging channel is monitored at special positions of the plurality of predetermined time intervals in every new time interval subsequent to the last monitored time so as to receive subsequent paging messages from the cell.

  • Patent number: 9544922
Abstract: A method for enabling different priority messages in a contention-based wireless network where units use a common channel. Relative to high priority messages, if the channel is not busy when a message is ready for transmission, then the message is transmitted immediately. When the channel is busy, the message is not transmitted until the channel becomes available and a selected back-off period (while the channel is available) expires. Back off periods are illustratively randomly selected by the units. Low priority messages are similarly not transmitted when the channel is busy, and additionally are not transmitted for a preselected pre-emption interval when the channel is available to high priority messages but not to low priority messages. Like with high priority messages, low priority messages that not transmitted when ready are held back a back-off period before they are transmitted.

Abstract: In wireless communication system each MS is assigned a globally unique address. The method and system use one of these globally unique addresses to identify the MS. The efficient method of signaling this large size MS address (MS ID) is proposed. The ‘n’ bit MS ID is divided into ‘p’ parts wherein ‘p’ is greater than 1. The MS is addressed or identified using ‘x’ parts from a set of ‘p’ parts of MS ID, wherein ‘x’<=‘p’. Further, methods to determine and signal the number of parts i.e. value of ‘x’ and which ‘x’ parts out of ‘p’ parts to be used for addressing is also proposed. The decision to determine the number of parts i.e. value of ‘x’ and which ‘x’ parts out of ‘p’ parts to be used for addressing the MS may be static, semi static or dynamic.

Abstract: Aspects relate to call control by third parties, where IP or a similar transport is used over a part of the channel for a given call and circuit-switched signaling protocols are used on a different part. For example, a PBX can communicate using SIP signaling to a gateway to a PSTN network, to which a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) is coupled, and which a mobile device, uses for voice communication. Controlling or updating status in these kinds of situations can be accomplished by forming a Q.931/932 message, such as a FACILITY message, which has fields (Information Elements) for pre-defined purposes (other than third party call control), and providing control or status information in such field(s). The message (the info) is tunneled through the gateway and the network(s), and arrives at its destination device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for receiving a quick paging message in a mobile station wherein a controller for synchronizing with a second clock in a predetermined time slot and transmitting a command for obtaining a synchronization at a frequency of receiving the quick paging message where the MS selects a clock having a first period as an operation clock under the second mode and under the first mode, selects a clock having a second period earlier than the first period; a dual phase-locked loop operating in response to the clock selected by the controller, for synchronizing with frequency in response to the command from the controller; a oscillator for oscillating at the synchronized frequency with the dual phase-locked loop; and a radio frequency part for receiving the quick paging message over a forward quick paging channel synchronously with the oscillating frequencies.

  • Patent number: 6832094
Abstract: A novel and improved method and system for paging a cellular telephone or other wireless terminal using two paging channels that reduces standby mode power consumption described. In one embodiment of the invention, a minimally encoded quick paging channel is established over which short, quick page messages are transmitted during one of a set of quick paging slots. The quick page message indicates that a communications request has been received, and that the receiving communication terminals should process a highly encoded full paging channel over which more detailed, full page messages are transmitted during the next full paging slot. A terminal monitors full paging channel only after a quick page message has been received on the quick paging channel.

  • Patent number: 6765474
Abstract: A technique is used for providing additional information about a broadcast presentation that allows a user interested in the additional information to acquire it easily, using a selective call device or a television remote control device to easily acquire an information address during the broadcast when a prompt is presented during the broadcast. An advertiser can send the additional information over a wide area radio selective call communication system or can post it at a universal resource locator of a computer network. The information address is used to acquire the additional information. The information address can be stored, selected and deleted in the selective call device or remote control device. The prompt can be disabled or enabled manually or based on location.

  • Patent number: 6622011
Abstract: An improved paging procedure for use in a low power radio communications network. A transceiver which pages a device by periodically transmitting a series of messages, comprises a transmitter which transmits a series of messages comprising a message at each frequency in a predetermined series of frequencies, a receiver which receives at, at least a predetermined frequency; and a controller which enables the transmitter and then the receiver in each of a plurality of successive periods and provides each message in said series of messages. The predetermined series of frequencies is an ordered series. A first message in the series of messages transmitted in a period defines directly or indirectly when the receiver is enabled and a second message in the series, a mark code, directly defines the predetermined frequency.

  • Patent number: 6621408
Abstract: If a received signal includes a message signal following the address of the pager concerned, a decoder section decodes the message signal and a control section stores it in a memory section together with a reception time. At this time, the control section judges whether the message signal includes a sender identification code or a consecutive transmission code. If either code exists, the control section stores it in the memory section together with the message. The control section reads message data from the memory section, and a display control section controls a display section to display the message. If the message includes a sender identification code or a continuous transmission code, the control section searches for messages to be displayed together with the current message from among the other messages stored in the memory section, and the display control section controls the display section to display the found messages en bloc.

  • Patent number: 6597280
Abstract: A method for disseminating value-added information is described, starting from known radio paging services in which on one or more frequencies, by means of an address code which establishes the identity of a certain receiver, a message can be transmitted to the receiver, wherein at least one second standard address code is provided for identifying several receivers of the radio paging service, which is transmitted on one or more frequencies used by the radio paging service. By setting up a second address code, several subscribers to a radio paging service can be addressed simultaneously. The subscribers can in this case select and call up desired value-added information.

  • Patent number: 6597890
Abstract: A technique is used in a selective call communication system (100) and in a broadcast communication system (106) to provide additional information about a broadcast to a selective call device (111). A broadcast receiver (109) receives a broadcast that includes a prompt (220), such as a FLEX™ logo, and an information address signal (305), such as an inaudible portion of the sound portion of the broadcast. The prompt indicates that additional information is available in a message to be transmitted by the selective call communication system. The selective call device receives the information address signal when activated to do so in response to the prompt. The selective call device receives and decodes an information address from the information address signal and uses it to recover the message at a protocol position indicated by the information address. The additional information is then recovered from the message.
