Patent number: 7065379Abstract: A portable radio terminal where the total length of a terminal body and an antenna is less than ½ wavelength. The terminal equipment includes a conductor connected to a printed circuit board in the terminal body so that an electrical equivalent length is ½ wavelength. The portable radio terminal equipment maintains a good radiation efficiency, while reducing the total size of a body and an antenna of the terminal equipment.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2000Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kyeong-Jun Kim, Jong-Goo Kim, Young-Ju Kim

Patent number: 7053854Abstract: A unit for shielding a transponder includes at least a chip and an antenna structure with application-specific spatial dimensions and which is secured to an electrically conductive surface. The unit includes a film having formed thereon or therein a highly permeable material at least in an area having the spatial dimensions of the antenna structure of the transponder. The highly permeable material is subdivided into elongate shielding elements and free spaces arranged between the respective shielding elements such that when the substrate has been attached to the transponder, the shielding elements will be oriented parallel to a magnetic field induced in the antenna structure of the transponder, so as to suppress eddy currents which are generated by the electrically conductive surface in the antenna structure, when the transponder is being introduced in a magnetic field of a respective reading device.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2002Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: Flexchip AGInventors: Andreas Plettner, Arno Stein

Patent number: 7043280Abstract: A wireless RF data transmission system subscriber station has a fixed, overhead bracket secured, spindle. An open sided housing is rotatably mounted to the spindle. The housing has a finned heat sink and is interiorly coated with heat absorbing paint. Emissions shielding enclosures secured within the housing house an RF transceiver. An antenna array mounted to an enclosure is operatively connected to the transceiver through the enclosures for communicating RF data signals. An A/D-D/A board is mounted to an enclosure on an opposite side from the array. A radome is secured over a face of the array, sealed to the housing by a carbon impregnated gasket. An electric motor mounted within the housing and operatively engaging the spindle is controlled by antenna aiming logic for aiming the station and its array. An orifice sealed with a waterproof, breathable membrane allows moisture to escape the housing and prevents moisture infiltration.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2001Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Assignee: Adaptix, Inc.Inventors: Richard A. Patent number: 7042398Abstract: An apparatus of antenna with heat slug and its fabricating process are provided, in which the antenna with heat slug can be realized with a single sheet or double sheets of metal. Each single sheet of metal can be achieved by simply cutting and bending a metal plate. Thereby, it is a simple and low-cost fabricating process. In the known fabricating process of integrated circuit, the heat slug and the antenna can be combined in a module at the same step. Therefore, integrating the antenna with heat slug in a fabricating process needs not to develop a new process.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2004Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Chia-Lun Tang, Shih-Huang Yeh

Patent number: 7034772Abstract: A flexible multi-layered metallic tape for deflecting and blocking the RF radiation emitted by various antennas, particularly those used on cellular telephones, satellite telephones or military field radio-phones. Shaping of device around antenna causes multiple effects, including protecting the human user from harmful radiation, for military applications makes RF hard to DF and causes minor amplification of received signals by concentrating them on to antenna. The outer most part of the deflector shield should be made of a solid lead or gold tape that is six thousandths thick and ½? wide wherein a 1? length would weigh ¼ gram. The outer most part would have an insulating flexible adhesive for cladding it to the next inner part. The first inner part of the shield should be made of solid copper foil. Best results coming from a foil that is at least three thousandths thick.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2003Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Inventor: Lloyd Harold Woodward

Patent number: 6995732Abstract: An antenna (10) having an emitter element which is positioned in front of a conductive reflector (13) and has a three-dimensional cast part. The cast part is implemented as conductive and has a closed peripheral structure (11) having alternating constrictions and bulges. The peripheral structure (11) spans an imaginary surface (14) which is intersected by at least two planes of symmetry (15.1, 15.3) of the cast part. At least two fastening elements (12.1, 12.2) are provided, which extend essentially perpendicular to the imaginary surface (14) and support the peripheral structure (11) at two points which lie on one of the planes of symmetry (15.1; 15.3). At the lower ends (16), the fastening elements (12.1, 12.2) are connected to the reflector (13), the fastening elements (12.1, 12.2) also being used for electrical excitation of the emitter element.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2003Date of Patent: February 7, 2006Assignee: Huber & Suhner AGInventors: Uhland Goebel, Mischa Graeni, Jan Hesselbarth, Peter Nuechter, Martin Wagner

Patent number: 6980173Abstract: An antenna in a wireless mobile communication device is often sensitive to its operating environment, such that variations in other device components typically affect performance of the antenna. A floating conductor pad comprising a patch of conductive material is configured to be positioned adjacent the antenna to couple to the antenna. The floating conductor pad thereby has a dominant effect on the antenna in the operating environment. This reduces the effects of variations in the other device components on the antenna. Effective selection of the dimensions and location of the floating conductor pad can also cancel noise generated by the other device components from de-sensitizing communications circuitry in a wireless mobile communication device.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2003Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: Research In Motion LimitedInventors: Ying Tong Man, Robert W.
