  • Patent number: 8436749
Abstract: A display system comprises first and second LED panels for displaying first and second priority aviation data, a power supply, a modulator, a processor and a logic gate. The modulator generates a modulated voltage for the second LED panel, where the second priority data are displayed at a modulated brightness. The processor controls the modulator, and generates a status signal indicating a failure condition of the modulated voltage. The logic gate switches the first LED panel from the modulated voltage to the unmodulated voltage based on the status signal, where the first priority data default from the modulated brightness level to full brightness based on the failure condition.

Abstract: Disclosed is a light display comprised of a light display unit containing 24 LEDs of various colors, a USB connector connecting the light display unit to a computer, and light display custom software that is loaded onto the computer. When the computer plays music audio such as a WAV file, MP3 file, or a CD disk, the light display custom software, installed on the computer, transforms the audio output into a four 8-bit byte record 40 times a second. The first byte is a header record, and the remaining 3 bytes contain 24 instruction bits. The instruction bits are calculated using a programmed spectrum analyzer that filter the sampled audio signal over a range of 20 Hz to 20K Hz. When the frequencies within a given band exceeds a threshold, the bit associated with that band is set to 1, otherwise the bit is set to 0. The light display unit contains a circuit board that turns the LED associated with the bit on if the bit is one, otherwise it is turned off.

Abstract: Techniques for transferring stored data between a media player and an accessory. In one set of embodiments, one of the media player and the accessory can obtain a unique identifier for a particular file stored in the other of the media player and the accessory. The one of the media player and the accessory can then retrieve data from the stored file using the unique identifier. In certain embodiments, accessories and media players can retrieve and store data utilizing an arbitrary format. This data can be opaque to any protocol used by the media player or accessory and can require no parsing or interpretation. To provide this facility, a plurality of commands can allow both media players and accessories to present a simple file system. The plurality of commands can be utilized in a variety of environments.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for implementing and operating pulse width modulation based LED dimmer controllers are described. A synchronization protocol is used to allow control information for the dimmer operations to be transferred to the PWM dimmer control clock domain from an external clock domain, such that visual artifacts are prevented when the control information is updated. Control information may be transferred to the LED dimmer controller via an I2C serial bus, and the synchronization protocol waits for an I2C STOP condition before updating control information across clock domain boundaries. The leading and trailing edges of an asserted group dimmer control signal are generated such that the active portion of the group dimmer control signal overlaps the active portion of individual LED pulse width modulated control signals. In this way, the pulse width modulation of the individual LED control signals is not cut off, or reduced in width by the group dimmer signal.

  • Patent number: 7990350
Abstract: It is a problem to provide a light-emitting device capable of obtaining a constant brightness without being affected by deterioration in an organic light-emitting layer or temperature change, and of making desired color display. The lowering in OLED brightness due to deterioration is reduced by causing the OLED to emit light while keeping constant the current flowing through the OLED instead of causing the OLED to emit light while keeping constant the OLED drive voltage. Namely, OLED brightness is controlled not by voltage but by current thereby preventing against the change in OLED brightness due to deterioration of OLED. Specifically, the drain current Id of a transistor for supplying a current to the OLED is controlled in a signal line drive circuit thereby keeping constant the drain current Id without relying upon the value of a load resistance.

Abstract: An LED driving circuit is provided for driving an LED module, comprising a transistor switch and a feedback controller. The transistor switch has a control terminal, a first terminal, and a second terminal. The first terminal is coupled to the LED module and the control terminal receives a control signal for controlling a current passing through the transistor switch. The feedback controller receives a reference voltage and a current detecting signal indicative of the magnitude of the current and generates the control signal accordingly. The feedback controller is connected to a driving power source with level higher than the level of the first terminal of the transistor switch. Hence, the maximum level of an adjustable range of the control signal is higher than the first terminal of the transistor switch.
