Abstract: Embodiments relate to reducing a ghost image effect caused by fixed images. In a region of the image with an opaque fixed image, a use rate (or intensity) of a color component with a lower luminous efficacy is decreased while a use rate (or intensity) of a color component with a higher luminous efficacy is increased to maintain the luminance. By reducing an excessive use of sub-pixels corresponding to a color component of the lower luminous efficacy, the deterioration of these sub-pixels can be reduced despite presenting a fixed image on the same region of the display.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus has a compression circuit and an output interface. The compression circuit has a pre-processor and a compressor. The pre-processor receives a first input display data in a first color domain, and performs a color format conversion upon the first input display data to generate a second input display data in a second color domain, wherein the second color domain is different from the first color domain. The compressor performs compression in the second color domain, wherein the compressor is arranged to compress the second input display data into a compressed display data in the second color domain. The output interface packs an output display data derived from the compressed display data into an output bitstream, and outputs the output bitstream via a display interface.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a source video signal comprising reference code values and mapping function parameters for one or more mapping functions to map the reference code values to device-specific pixel values. The reference code values and the mapping function parameters are combined into first video frames in a first video signal format. The mapping function parameters represent DM metadata carried in the first video frames. Second video frames in a second video signal format are generated based on the first video frames in the first video signal format and a mapping between the first video signal format and the second video signal format. The second video frames are sent to a video sink device through the video link in an encoded video signal of the second video signal format.

Abstract: A method for color correcting an input color image having input color values adapted for display on a reference display device having a plurality of input color primaries to account to provide reduced observer metemaric failure on a narrow-band display device. A metamerism correction transform is applied to the input color image to determine an output color image having output color values in an output color space appropriate for display on the narrow-band display device. The metamerism correction transform modifies colorimetry associated with the input colors to provide output color values such that an average observer metameric failure is reduced for a distribution of target observers.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for generating images on a multi-primary display. A multi-primary display can include control logic that converts input image data into the multi-primary color space employed by the display by mapping the input pixel values into an intermediate color space according to a gamut mapping function and then decomposing the mapped pixel values into color subfields associated with the display's primary colors. The control logic can be configured to identify a lossy gamut mapping saturation parameter value to use in the gamut mapping process which results in a power-saving desaturated image that is perceived by the Human Visual System (HVS) as substantially maintaining its color fidelity.
