Abstract: An image forming apparatus is provided that reduces main scanning jitter with a simple configuration and performs light amount control with high accuracy. The image forming apparatus includes: a laser emitting luminous flux; a main-scanning aperture portion shaping the luminous flux; a beam splitter splitting the luminous flux passed through the main-scanning aperture portion into a reflected beam and a transmitted beam; a rotary polygon mirror deflecting the transmitted beam so that the transmitted beam scans the surface of a photosensitive drum; and an optical box in which the laser, the main-scanning aperture portion, the beam splitter and the rotary polygon mirror are disposed. The main-scanning aperture portion is disposed so as not to block a deflected and transmitted beam. The beam splitter abuts against the main-scanning aperture portion so as not to block a deflected and transmitted beam deflected, and is positioned by abutting against the main-scanning aperture portion.

Abstract: Density unevenness is suppressed even in an image that is formed by a multiple exposures method in which the same region on a photoreceptor is exposed multiple times with different laser light sources (light emitting elements), by adjusting the amounts of light of the respective lasers based on a density difference among test images. An image is formed for each group of light emitting elements grouped together for multiple exposures by dividing, in the main scanning direction, the region of a test image formed on a recording medium. The images formed for the respective multiple-exposure light emitting element groups are compared to one another in density, to thereby adjust the amounts of light of the respective laser light sources (light emitting elements) and reduce fluctuations in image density.

A method for scribing transparent materials uses ultrashort laser pulses to create multiple scribe features with a single pass of the laser beam across the material, with at least one of the scribe features being formed below the surface of the material. This enables clean breaking of transparent materials at a higher speed than conventional techniques. Slightly modifying the ultrashort pulse laser processing conditions produces sub-surface marks. In addition, a method for welding transparent materials uses ultrashort laser pulses to create a bond through localized heating. Abstract: A method for forming a variable data job includes a fixed original image provided by original image data in a first multiple channel color plane and content provided by variable image data in a second multiple channel color plane. The original image data is converted to fixed image data in a clear channel color plane. Raster image processing is performed on the fixed image data to translate the fixed image data into a first ready-to-print file. The ready-to-print file is saved in a memory as a post-RIP file. The variable image data is subsequently provided in at least the second multiple channel color plane. Image processing is performed on the variable image data to obtain a second ready-to-print file. The post-RIP file is merged with the second ready-to-print file for forming the variable data job. The variable data job is printed to render output.

Abstract: A relief print master is created by a printhead that jets droplets of a polymerisable liquid on a cylindrical sleeve. The droplets follow a spiral path on the cylindrical sleeve. In a multiple printhead unit, there are different spiral paths associated with the different constituting printheads. The distance between these spiral paths is not even in a prior art system. By rotating the printhead under a specific angle, the distance between these spiral paths becomes even. The invention can also be used for the creation of other types of print plates, such as for example offset print plates.
