Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises a light source, a photosensitive member and a control unit. The light source turns on in response to a driving current supplied based on image data. An electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive member by exposing the photosensitive member to a light beam output from the light source turned on. The control unit controls the value of the driving current supplied to the light source in accordance with a driving state of the light source so that the value of the driving current supplied to the light source differs and changes with the passage of time in accordance with the driving state of the light source prior to the driving current being supplied to the light source.

Abstract: An optical scanning apparatus includes a housing, light deflector, first optical system and reinforcement member. The housing includes a peripheral wall and a partitioning portion to divide an inner side of the peripheral wall into first and second portion. The partitioning portion includes a first hole to cause the first portion to communicate with the second portion to form an optical path. The light deflector mounted in the first portion has a rotatable polygon mirror to perform deflection scanning of scanning light beams emitted from light sources and a drive unit to drive the rotatable polygon mirror to rotate. The first optical system mounted at least in the first portion causes the scanning light beams reflected from the rotatable polygon mirror to return towards the first hole. The reinforcement member mounted on a surface facing at least the second portion on the partitioning portion reinforces the housing.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of reducing density variation that occurs in an output image when the rotational speed of a polygon mirror is changed. A light source emits a light beam for forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum. The polygon mirror deflects the light beam such that the light beam moves on the photosensitive drum in a predetermined direction. A polygon mirror control circuit controls the polygon mirror such that when the toner image is to be formed at a first magnification, the rotational speed of the polygon mirror is made higher than when the toner image is to be formed at a second magnification that is larger than the first magnification. When the toner image is to be formed at the first magnification, the light beam becomes smaller in light amount than when the toner image is to be formed at the second magnification.

Abstract: An optical scanning apparatus includes a housing, light source, deflector, imaging lens, reflective mirrors, a synchronization detector and synchronization detection mirror. The housing has a plate to partition the housing. The deflector deflects a light beam emitted from the light source. The imaging lens converts the deflected light beam into a constant speed scanning light beam. The reflective mirrors reflect the constant speed scanning light beam to a photoreceptor. The synchronization detector detects timing for starting scanning of the photoreceptor. The synchronization detection mirror reflects the light beam to the synchronization detector. At least one of the reflective mirrors is disposed midway in a synchronization detection light path extending from the deflector to the synchronization detection mirror. The light beam reflected by the synchronization detection mirror is reflected again by at least one of the reflective mirrors, such that the light beam is guided to the synchronization detector.
