Abstract: To correct distortion in an optical system of an optical scanning, electrophotographic image generating apparatus, a parallel line group 107? is printed by a printing apparatus to be calibrated on a sheet on which a correction pattern 101 has been printed. The user reads marker positions to find amounts of deviation of the adjustment pattern from the correction pattern and inputs the amounts of deviation in the printing apparatus. The printing apparatus interpolates values between the input amounts of deviation, establishes positions at which a line in the adjustment pattern deviate one pixel in a sub-scanning direction as scan line changing points and generate new conversion information by pairing the scan line changing points with respective directions of deviation. During image generation, the printing apparatus prints an image by correcting image data according to the conversion information.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for correcting color registration errors in a printing device comprising a plurality of print engines driven by a single pixel frequency clock. In some embodiments, the print engines can include a reference print engine and one or more non-reference print engines. An adjusted resolution may be computed for color data sent to each non-reference engine to offset color registration errors attributable to the non-reference engine. The adjusted resolution is computed using calibration information for the non-reference print engines relative to the reference engine, and resolution information for color data processed by the first reference engine. The resolution of color data processed by each non-reference print engine is adjusted according to the computed adjusted resolution for the non-reference engine and sent to the print engines for printing.

Abstract: When forming an image by developing a color development layer that reacts to a light, the image formation processes (color development, color erasure, and/or fixing) that can be performed simultaneously with information recording are performed in the same period as that of the information recording to reduce the time required for image formation. An image formation device that forms an image by developing a color development layer reacting to a light comprises a color development unit that develops colors by focusing a light on the color development layer, color erasure units that selectively erase the developed colors by focusing a light on the developed color development layer, and a fixing unit that fixes an image formed by the color erasure wherein the color development unit and/or the fixing unit performs processing in a period in which information is recorded on the recording medium on which the color development layer is provided.

Abstract: An optical scanning apparatus and an image forming apparatus having the optical scanning apparatus includes a before-light-deflecting-unit optical system and a scanning optical system. The optical system includes a first optical device, a second optical device made of a resin material which has an anamorphic negative refracting power in a deflection scanning direction and a deflection scan perpendicular direction and has a larger refracting power in the deflection scan perpendicular direction than a refracting power in the deflection scanning direction, and a third optical device made of a glass material which has substantially no refracting power in the deflection scanning direction and a positive refracting power in the deflection scan perpendicular direction. An interval of the scanning lines formed on the scanned surface is adjusted by displacement of the second and third optical devices in an optical axis direction of the before-light-deflecting-unit optical system.

Abstract: An exposure device includes plural light-emitting elements, a light amount detection unit, a controller, plural holding units and a connection unit. The controller sequentially determines control values of the light-emitting elements based on comparison between the light amounts detected by the light amount detection unit and a predetermined reference value. The holding units are provided for the light-emitting elements, respectively. Each holding unit holds a control voltage of the controller. When the controller is to sequentially determine control values of a part of the plurality of light-emitting elements, the connection units connects the controller and the holding units corresponding to one or more light-emitting elements for which control values are determined earliest among the part of the plural light-emitting elements, before the controller determines the control values of the one or more light-emitting elements.
