Fluid Content (e.g., Moisture Or Solvent Content, Ink Refilling, Liquid Level) Patents (Class 347/7)
  • Patent number: 9346279
Abstract: In a liquid cartridge, a liquid storing section defines a liquid storing chamber storing liquid, and a channel section defines a channel in fluid communication with the liquid storing chamber. A field forming section forms a field that changes depending on a position of a movable member that is movable in the channel. A power-source potential is inputted to a power-source terminal, and a ground potential is inputted to a ground terminal. A sensor is electrically connected with the power-source terminal and the ground terminal, and generates a potential based on the position of the movable member by being disposed in the field formed by the field forming section. An output terminal outputs the potential generated by the sensor. The sensor generates the potential higher than a ground potential regardless of the position of the movable member.

Abstract: An inkjet printing device allows separation of ink solvent liquefied in an exhaust passage from exhaust gas, and prevents the separated exhaust gas from contaminating the inside of the print head. When ink fed from a container is jetted from a printing nozzle, ink that has not been used for the printing is drawn by a gutter along with air and collected in the container. Air mixed with the ink solvent and collected is discharged as exhaust gas into an exhaust passage from the container. The ink solvent that has been liquefied in the exhaust passage is separated from the gas by retaining the liquid using capillary action in a gas-liquid separator, and the separated liquefied ink solvent is collected. The trace amount of the ink solvent leaking on the exhaust side of the gas-liquid separator is prevented from dripping into the print head by a drip prevention unit.

Abstract: An embodiment of this invention is directed to discriminating between an ink present state and a bubble state and accurately determining the presence/absence of ink in residual ink detection. A printing apparatus measures the voltage between two electrodes in an ink tank based on an electric current supplied to one of the two electrodes, and compares the measured voltage with a first threshold voltage. When the measured voltage is lower than the first threshold voltage, the measured voltage is compared with a second threshold voltage lower than the first threshold voltage. According to results of these two comparisons, control is performed to supply the electric current, re-measure the voltage between the two electrodes, and re-inspect a residual ink amount. In a case where accurate determination is suspected, the presence/absence of ink is determined by re-inspection.

  • Patent number: 9090079
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes first to n-th (n is an integer equal to or greater than 2) ink tanks in which ink accommodated in an ink pack is filled, first to n-th slots that correspond to the ink tanks, first to n-th memory units that are packaged together with the ink pack and are respectively installed in the slots, and a processing unit. The processing unit outputs a read-out command in which communication ID information is set, to the storage device included in the memory unit that is installed in the selected slot, determines whether ink color information that is read out and an ink color corresponding to the slot are consistent with each other, and determines that the memory unit is erroneously installed when the read-out ink color information and the ink color corresponding to the slot are inconsistent with each other.

  • Patent number: 9056483
Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatus and method for transferring, focusing and purging powder for direct printing at low temperature. A filter is provided between an operation chamber housing in which a work target is disposed and a reservoir tank which contains powder to adjust the amount of particles transferred from the reservoir tank into the operation chamber housing. A pressure unit connected to the reservoir tank generates air pressure for applying powder to the work target. A purging unit connected to the reservoir tank generates pressure for returning powder that has remained in the operation chamber housing, the filter, etc. to the reservoir tank after work has been completed. The apparatus is configured such that a series of process of transferring powder to be applied to the surface of the work target and returning remnant powder to the reservoir tank can be rapidly and smoothly conducted.
