  • Patent number: 10750162
Abstract: Systems, devices, and apparatuses for a switchable augmented reality and virtual reality device are provided. An example device includes a handle, a device chamber, a viewport assembly, and a hinge assembly. The handle may be formed from folded sheets of material. The example device chamber is coupled to the handle and formed from folded sheets of material. The viewport assembly may be formed at least in part from folded sheets of material. The example hinge assembly pivotably couples the device chamber to the viewport assembly. For example, the hinge assembly may be operable to adjust the device between a virtual reality configuration and an augmented reality configuration. A display of a computing device held in the device chamber may be viewable through the viewport assembly in the virtual reality configuration and the display may be viewable without the viewport assembly in the augmented reality configuration.

  • Patent number: 10629039
Abstract: An approximate physical geographic location (geolocation) of a video monitoring system for security and/or surveillance can be determined with high confidence by co-locating the monitoring system and a mobile device on a common local network and associating a sensed geolocation of the mobile device with the monitoring system. The monitoring system and mobile device may be wireless Local Area Network (LAN) devices connected to a single router for accessing an application server through a Wide Area Network (WAN). The mobile device may connect to a Global Positioning System (GPS) for sensing the geolocation. This process can be used to determine where the monitoring system is physically installed by a user for providing support. • Patent number: 10602119
Abstract: It is contemplated that the present invention can provide methods and systems for the near-simultaneous frame acquisition from multiple cameras. This can be achieved in two different ways. If the cameras are set to work in triggering mode, the triggering of a first camera and a subsequent camera are adjusted by overlapping the trigger signals and image communication control signals of each camera in order to capture near-simultaneous images from each of the cameras. If the cameras are in video mode, they will be kept synchronous by using a common clock and starting them at the same time. As each camera generates frames, individual, corresponding frames are sampled from each camera in a sequential manner upon receiving a triggering signal. In this way, near simultaneous images can be sampled and saved from multiple cameras in video mode.

Abstract: A remembrance agent is proposed, to be hosted on a wearable computer. The remembrance agent employs a first database (WK) of knowledge about the world in the form of concept maps. Events (“episodes”) experienced by a user are each classified as relating to one or more of the concepts in WK. The episodes are used to produce a second database (episodic memory, EM), and the classification is also used to update a third database (semantic memory, SM) organized using the concepts. The semantic memory thus summarizes the user's interaction with the concepts during the episodes. A current situation of the user is classified according to the concepts, and the classification is used, with the EM and SM, to provide to the user information relevant to the current situation.

Abstract: A data center system is described which includes multiple data centers powered by multiple power sources, including any combination of renewable power sources and on-grid utility power sources. The data center system also includes a management system for managing execution of computational tasks by moving data components associated with the computational tasks within the data center system, in lieu of, or in addition to, moving power itself. The movement of data components can involve performing pre-computation or delayed computation on data components within any data center, as well as moving data components between data centers. The management system also includes a price determination module for determining prices for performing the computational tasks based on different pricing models. The data center system also includes a “stripped down” architecture to complement its use in the above-summarized data-centric environment.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a levelling unit for cameras or sensors, comprising a base, a tilting table that is tiltable with respect to the base, and two wedge rings arranged between said base and said tilting table, each wedge ring having two end faces oriented to one another in a wedge-like manner. Said tilting table is connected to said base via a cardan joint such that a relative rotation of said tilting table with respect to said base is prevented. Said two wedge rings are formed by a first wedge ring rotatably supported on said base and by a second wedge ring rotatably supported on said tilting table, wherein said second wedge ring is also rotatable with respect to said first wedge ring. A first drive is provided for said first wedge ring and a second drive is provided for said second wedge ring.

Abstract: A personal protective device is combined with a cellular telephone. Activation of either device causes activation of the other device. Activation is achieved by a switch or voice command. Upon activation, a message asking for assistance at the present location is sent to a previously agreed upon emergency contact. The smartphone also starts both audio and video recording, which are also part of the data sent to the emergency contact person or service. Additionally, the personal protective devices are integrated into a unit that may combine such items as a protective spray, Taser, strobe light, dye pack, siren and other deterrent technologies to ward off would-be attackers. These devices are integrated into a hand held unit that can be unobtrusively worn or carried in a purse or pocket or in the user's hand. Abstract: Across the planet, the fear of physical attacks is experienced daily by millions of men and women, especially those walking or running alone in secluded areas. In many instances, attacks start from behind, exploiting a weakness in our forward-facing vision system. To address this, the present inventor devised, among other things, a rear-facing clip-on sensor that attaches to the back of a user, detecting rear-approaching objects or persons, and vibrating or beeping to alert the user. In some embodiments, the clip-on sensor includes a digital camera and a wireless transceiver to communicate with a smartphone or smartwatch, not only allowing the smartphone or smartwatch to alert the user via audible, visible, and/or tactile (haptic) alarms, but also to send SOS signals and real-time audio and/or video signals to designated persons or security services.

Abstract: A user of a computing system gazes at an image of visible objects in the user's field of view. The computing system determines the direction of the user's eye gaze into the field of view, and augments the image seen by the user with a computer-generated gaze direction indicator. The computing system may also determine the direction of an auxiliary pointer into the field of view, and may further augment the image seen by the user with a computer-generated auxiliary pointer direction indicator. The gaze direction indicator may be adjusted based on the user's eye movement and the auxiliary pointer direction indicator may be adjusted based on manipulation of the auxiliary pointer. The direction indicators may intersect over an object in the user's field of view, and may be displayed on a transparent display screen positioned between the user and the object.
