Image File Management Patents (Class 348/231.2)
  • Patent number: 8625000
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus capable of selecting an image more suited to a user from images that have been continuously taken. A face included in each of a plurality of images is chosen, and with respect to each of the images, an evaluation value for use in selecting one image from the plurality of images is calculated based on the face chosen in each of the images. An image with the highest evaluation value is selected, and when there are a plurality of images with the highest evaluation value, an image taken first is selected. The selected image is then recorded.

Abstract: Charging of a camera and backup of data are concurrently executed to enable picking up an image regardless of a remaining available memory. As the camera is attached to a cradle, image data for the image picked up by a camera module of the camera is directly transferred to and recorded in a HDD of the cradle. Image data, already recorded in the flash memory of the camera, is backed up by the HDD of the cradle. Further, the cradle allows a charging circuit to charge a rechargeable battery of the camera using electric power supplied via an AC cord. Also, the cradle has a tripod bore through which the camera is fixed to a tripod for picking up the image.

Abstract: Methods and systems for capturing an image are provided. In one example, a head-mounted device (HMD) having an image capturing device, a viewfinder, a gaze acquisition system, and a controller may be configured to capture an image. The image capturing device may be configured to have an imaging field of view including at least a portion of a field of view provided by the viewfinder. The gaze acquisition system may be configured to acquire a gaze direction of a wearer. The controller may be configured to determine whether the acquired gaze direction is through the viewfinder and generate an image capture instruction based on a determination that the acquired gaze direction indicates a gaze through the viewfinder. The controller may further be configured to cause the image capturing device to capture an image.

Abstract: Provided are a photographing profile learning apparatus and method of a digital imaging device for recording a personal life history. The photographing profile learning method learns a user's photographing patterns by recommending at least one previous picture consistent with a user's photographing tendencies, using a recommendation function and a user profile based on a user feedback value and a compensation value, receiving user feedback regarding the recommended previous picture, and updating the user profile and the recommendation function according to the user feedback. Therefore, since photographing settings are performed according to a user's tendency and conditions, it is possible to maintain consistency between a currently photographed picture and previously photographed pictures and systematically produce a visual diary.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording apparatus and method, a reproducing apparatus and method, and a program that make it possible to photograph and record a still image and moving images before and after the still image as well. In step S1, when a still-image-with-moving-image photographing mode is set, moving image temporary storage is started. When a shutter is depressed in step S2, in step S3, a photographed still image is recorded and one moving image is generated from the moving image before the still image stored in step S1, a moving image obtained by converting the photographed still image, and a moving image photographed after the depression of the shutter and the one moving image generated is recorded. Therefore, the moving images before and after the still image are recorded together with a high-definition still image.

Abstract: A wireless handset, electronic device, and method for associating a text-based file identifier with a captured image using a voice recognition module are presented. The wireless handset or electronic device includes a camera, a memory, a microphone, a processor and a means for associating the text-based file identifier with the image that was captured by the camera. The memory stores the plurality of images captured by the camera. The microphone receives a plurality of voice messages. The processor records the voice messages and converts the voice message to a text-based file identifier at approximately the same time as when the image was captured by the camera.

  • Patent number: 8514441
Abstract: To provide an image processing apparatus that changes methods of storage to a memory depending on image data to be input and improves overall image processing performance, as well as a control method of the image processing apparatus. To accomplish this, the present image processing apparatus changes methods in which input image data is stored depending on whether scanner image processing is to be performed by a system control unit that comprehensively controls the image processing apparatus or performed outside of the system control unit. Specifically, when performing scanner image processing in the system control unit, since input image data is to be input directly from a CCD, the image data is stored frame-sequentially in a memory. On the other hand, when performing scanner image processing outside of the system control unit, input image data is stored dot-sequentially in a memory.

Abstract: This invention provides an information processing method and apparatus, which can set all extent sizes of data divisionally recorded on a disk to be equal to or larger than the minimum recording unit, and can guarantee continuous reproduction of the divisionally recorded data. Of data divisionally recorded on a recording medium (5), data which corresponds to an end portion of that data and cannot be recorded as a recording area equal to or larger than a minimum recording unit specified in the recording medium (5) due to the presence of a recording area (6) of another data, that has already been recorded on the recording medium (5), is re-recorded on a recording area equal to or larger than the minimum recording unit. At this time, new data is generated by combining data less than the minimum recording unit, and data recorded in another recording area, and the new data is re-recorded on a new recording area.

Abstract: RAW camera images may be processed by a computer system using either a particular application or a system level service. In either case, at least some parameters needed for the processing are preferably separated from the executable binary of the application or service, and are provided in separate, non-executable, data-only files. Each of these files can correspond to a particular camera or other imaging device. When a user of the system attempts to open a RAW image file from an unsupported device, the local system may contact a server for on-demand download and on-the-fly installation of the required support resource.
