Abstract: A system and method of image processing is provided, including implementing adaptive pixel replacement techniques or reducing noise. The method includes obtaining a data map of an image frame, wherein the data map comprises good pixels and bad pixels at locations associated with the data map. The method also includes assigning different techniques to the bad pixels, wherein a first technique is assigned to a first bad pixel and a second technique is assigned to a second bad pixel. The method further includes adjusting information associated with the bad pixels for a chosen technique for each of the bad pixels.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a desktop display comprising classifying a first region of the desktop display as persistently changed and a second region of the desktop display as sporadically changed, adjusting, in relation to a user experience (UX) bias and a resource constraint, a target image quality for the first region, decimating the first region in accordance with a spatial decimation factor to generate a first decimated region, compressing the first decimated region at the target image quality and compressing the second region to generate a plurality of compressed regions and transmitting the plurality of compressed regions to a client via an IP network.

Abstract: A motion vector extraction method includes: deciding on a search start position in an original video and performing a spiral motion search; and determining whether or not to perform a search in a sub-sampling video, during P picture search.
Abstract: A noise estimator device of a video decoder includes a reception end, a low pass filter coupled to the reception end, a delay unit coupled to the reception end, a minimum level estimation unit coupled to the low pass filter for estimating a minimum of a specific number of low-pass results, a difference level estimation unit coupled to the low pass filter, the delay unit, and the minimum level estimation unit for determining a synchronization signal according to a plurality of low-pass results and the minimum of the specific number of the low-pass results, and for estimating a noise level according to the synchronization signal and signals outputted from the delay unit, and an output end coupled to the difference level estimation unit.
Abstract: The video signal processor of the present invention comprises a CCD for storing an inputted image by converting it into an electric charge through photoelectrical conversion to be stored by each field and then outputting the stored electric charge by each field; a shutter pulse generator for supplying a shutter pulse which adjusts storage time of the electric charge in the CCD; and a variable controller for variably controlling adjusting amount of electric charge storage time by the shutter pulse by a field unit.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for parallel compression and decompression of a bitstream. For compression, the bitstream is separated into a plurality of components, and the components are encoded using a compression algorithm. Packets are then constructed from the encoded components. At least one packet is associated with each encoded component and comprises header information and encoded data. The packets are combined into a packetized encoded bitstream. For decompression, the packets are separated from the packetized encoded bitstream using the header information. The packets are then decoded in parallel using a decompression algorithm to recover the encoded data. The plurality of components are reconstructed from the recovered encoded data and combined to recover the bitstream.

Abstract: The invention relates to a transmitting device limiting the out-of-band interferences. The modulation is done with or without inversion of the spectrum (FIG. 4A or 4B). Next, frequency transposition is done in supradyne or infradyne fashion (FIG. 4C or 4D) such that the parasitic effects originating from the modulation are always situated in the frequency band allocated for transmission. The invention relates to the transmission method, on the one hand, and to the transmission device, on the other hand.

Abstract: In a digital TV receiver a single digital complex multiplier is used for digitally synchrodyning digital intermediate-frequency signal to baseband both during the reception of VSB digital television signals and during the reception of QAM digital television signals. The component digital multipliers of the complex multiplier are provided by read-only memories (ROMs). The complex digital carriers used by the complex multiplier are supplied from further read-only memory storing sine/cosine look-up tables for the QAM carrier and for the VSB carrier as,translated to the final intermediate-frequency band. This further read-only memory is addressed by a sample count and an indication of whether VSB or QAM digital television signal is currently being received.
Abstract: In video tape recording apparatus composite video signals are separated into their luminance and chrominance components for processing prior to recording. The luminance components are digitized, adaptively temporal and spatial filtered, and folded into a reduced frequency spectrum to generate a digital signal that is converted to analog form to modulate the frequency of the luminance carrier signal used in video tape recording. The chrominance components are converted to the color-under signals used in video tape recording. In video tape playback apparatus the color-under signals are converted up in frequency to provide chrominance components for inclusion in reproduced composite video signals.
