  • Patent number: 11425371
Abstract: This invention predicts that intra mode prediction is more effective for the macroblocks where motion estimation in inter mode prediction fails. This failure is indicated by a large value of the inter mode SAD. This invention performs intra mode prediction for only macro blocks have larger inter mode SADs. The definition of a large inter mode SAD differs for different content. This invention compares the inter mode SAD of a current macroblock with an adaptive threshold. This adaptive threshold depends on the average and variance of the SADs of the previous predicted frame. An adaptive threshold is calculated for each new predictive frame.

Abstract: A target setting apparatus sets a target correcting a sight line detection portion to detect a sight line of a subject person. A deviation between a position of the target and a position detected as a center of the sight line detected by the sight line detection portion when the subject person is estimated to be gazing at the target is regarded as a detection error and applied to a correction. The target setting apparatus includes: a sight line range estimation portion that estimates a sight line range; a candidate point extraction portion that extracts a candidate point for the target from the sight line range; a candidate point evaluation portion that evaluates appropriateness of the candidate point as the target by using a plurality of indices; and a target setting portion that determines whether or not to set the candidate point as the target.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for increasing throughput in the image processing path of a digital document reproduction device. A digital image to be processed is received. Memory is allocated into two buffers, B[0] and B[1]. Each buffer has size S B ? M 2 , where M is a size of the allocation. The digital image is divided into N number of tiles. Then, for tiles Ti, where i=1 to N: (A) the image data of tile Ti is decompressed into buffer B[((i% 2)=0], and (B) the image data of buffer B[(i% 2)?0] is decompressed into the image path pipeline. Send a signal indicating that processing of the digital image has completed.

Abstract: An efficient adaptive seismic data flow lossless compression and decompression method, which aims at solving the problem that data occupies the storage space and affects the transmission efficiency and is used for efficiently compressing geophysical instrument data, particularly seismic data after 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion. In the method, a data flow is compressed in a lossless mode in real time, and sampling data is adaptively compressed into 1 byte or 2 bytes or 3 bytes from original 24 bits and 3 bytes in a coding manner. Besides the foregoing data ranges, other integers that can be expressed by other 24-bit integer data with symbols are required to be expressed by 4 bytes after being operated through a compression algorithm. The method has the advantages of saving a large amount of storage space and remarkably increasing the data transmission efficiency.

Abstract: A wireless device receives a frame including a first Resource Unit (RU) allocation subfield including resource information for a first frequency area and indicating a first number of user fields in a first channel that correspond to the first frequency area, and a second RU allocation subfield including resource information for a second frequency area and indicating of a second number of user fields in a second channel that correspond to the second frequency area. When the first and second frequency areas are a same RU, the wireless device determines, using both the RU allocation subfields, a number of users allocated to the same RU. A wireless device generates and transmits a frame including first and second RU allocation subfields as described above. When the first and second frequency area are a same RU, both the RU allocation subfields indicates a number of users allocated to the same RU.

  • Patent number: 9800638
Abstract: A system for providing downstream bandwidth aware adaptive bit rate selection is disclosed. The system may determine a fixed bandwidth available to transmit content to a client on a second network. The system may connect to a first network, which may be configured to have no specific bandwidth constraints, to obtain the content. Once the system is connected to the first network, the system may receive, from the first network, a content segment of the content that is encoded at a first bandwidth. The first bandwidth may be less than or equal to the lesser of the fixed bandwidth available to transmit the content to the client on the second network and a first adaptive bit rate that is selected based on a congestion condition experienced on the first network. The system may then transmit the content segment at the first bandwidth to the client on the second network.

Abstract: Stereoscopic images are subsampled and placed in a “checkerboard” pattern in an image. The image is encoded in a monoscopic video format. The monoscopic video is transmitted to a device where the “checkerboard” is decoded. Portions of the checkerboard (e.g., “black” portions) are used to reconstruct one of the stereoscopic images and the other portion of the checkerboard (e.g., “white” portions) are used to reconstruct the other image. The subsamples are, for example, taken from the image in a location coincident to the checkerboard position in which the subsamples are encoded.

The media stream is appropriately encoded at a quality level (e.g., at a bit rate, frame rate, resolution, etc.) that allows content to be delivered faster than it is played back. This sort of “faster than real time” encoding allows the placeshifted media stream to be buffered at the remote device for more effective performance.
