  • Patent number: 9520985
Abstract: A self-interference signal cancellation circuit includes a transmitter for transmitting a transmit signal, a plurality of signal paths, a controller, and a receiver for receiving a signal. Each signal path includes a delay element and a variable attenuator having attenuation levels set by the controller. A combiner generates an output signal by combining outputs of the signal paths. The circuit computes a matrix based on first and second output signals associated with first and second attenuation levels. The controller concurrently varies the attenuation level of each signal path so that a product of the matrix and the attenuation levels of the signal paths is substantially equal to the received signal. The circuit may iteratively compute the matrix using different transmit signal frequencies or with an FFT. The controller iteratively varies the attenuation level of the attenuators until a sum of the product and the received signal satisfies a predefined condition.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for the synchronization of media streams. In an embodiment, a gross synchronization may first be performed on the media streams, using the broadcast delays of the streams. A refined synchronization may then be performed, taking advantage of corresponding visual or audio cues in each stream. In the event that the media streams represent the same content (e.g., the same content from different providers), matching momentary actions in the video media streams may be used to achieve refined synchronization. In the event that the media streams are different (e.g., different broadcasts of the same event), other cues may be used to achieve refined synchronization, where these other cues are part of the underlying event but independent of the particular broadcasts. Examples of these latter cues may be the sound of a referee's whistle or the crack of a bat hitting a baseball.

The method includes the steps of dividing a small block of radio frequency spectrum associated with a single television broadcast channel into a plurality of at least 20 contiguous subchannels that are also contiguous with the boundaries of the television broadcast channel where each of the subchannels is less than 75 kHz and transmitting an audio signal from a microphone transmitter on one the plurality of subchannels through a transmitter with a radio frequency isolator or other means for suppressing intermodulation energy coupled to an antenna, the radio frequency isolator having a bandwidth no larger than any one of the plurality of divided subchannels; and receiving the audio signal through a microphone receiver.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided to generate digital audio signals, such as stereo signals, from a multimedia program. The program can be distributed directly through an electronic network, or indirectly by recording the program on a medium such as a DVD or CD. The multimedia program is normally compressed using a standard DVD, MPEG or similar compression protocol. In accordance with the invention, the program is decoded to generate a multimedia output signal and an audio output signal. The multimedia signals can be played immediately or at will on a suitable multimedia device. The audio output signal is compressed, using for instance MP3 or ATRAC3, and then transmitted to an external device for storage as a digital file. The digital file can then be replayed at will.

Abstract: The identification information processing unit receives identification information identifying the reception device from a reception device, and generates decoded identification information indicating the decoded value of the received identification information. The parameter value selection unit selects the first parameter value when the decoded identification information includes an information representing a television, selects a second parameter value that is less than the first parameter value when the decoded identification information includes an information representing an audio device, and generates a selected parameter value. The frequency divider frequency divides the audio clock using the selected parameter value, and generates a frequency division signal. The counter counts one period of the frequency division signal using the pixel clock and generates the cycle time stamp. The transmission device then sends the selected parameter value and cycle time stamp to the reception device.

  • Patent number: 8089377
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for performing sampling rate conversion of an audio signal from a first sampling rate to any of a plurality of higher sampling rates using a single set of low-pass filter coefficients. Sampling rate conversion is accomplished by effectively up-sampling, low-pass filtering, and down-sampling the audio signal to generate interpolated output samples of a second digital audio signal at any of a plurality of sampling rates. The sampling rate conversion process includes storing a fixed set of filter coefficients as a plurality of phased subsets of filter coefficients, applying samples of the audio signal to the phased subsets in a rotational manner to generate filtered samples of the audio signal, and selecting and linear interpolating between certain filtered samples to generate samples of the second digital audio signal.

Abstract: The Procedure executing unit 42 makes a judgment on which among three conditions are satisfied by each of a plurality of audio streams. The BD-ROM reproduction apparatus selects an audio stream to be reproduced in accordance with each combination of conditions that are satisfied by each audio stream. One of the conditions is that a channel attribute of an audio stream is surround and the reproduction apparatus is capable to output surround audio. If the audio stream to be reproduced conforms to an encoding method such as DTS-HD or DD/DD+ whose audio frames are composed of basic data and extended data, the judgment on whether the surround output is available is made by judging whether or not the reproduction apparatus has a capability to process the extended data.

Abstract: An audio processing system which allows a surround sound system to utilize the transmission bandwidth efficiently by adaptively transmitting a supplementary data from a secondary source in addition to the audio signals of a primary source. The system consists of a transmitter component, capable of transmitting audio signals from a primary source and adaptively inserts supplementary data of the secondary source in the reserved communication bandwidth. The transmitter inserts headers in the channels used by the supplementary data to allow the receivers to identify the channel allocation between the primary source and the secondary source. Another part of the audio processing system is that of a receiver component which is capable of discriminating between data from the primary source and data from the secondary source.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include methods and systems for simultaneous rendering of multiple multi-media presentations, including videos, which include both video or graphics signals that are rendered for visual display as well as audio signals that are broadcast through loudspeakers. In certain embodiments of the present invention, each video signal of a set of simultaneously displayed videos is rendered by a processing component for visual display within a separate video-display frame at a location on the screen of a visual-display device different from the locations of other video-display frames. The audio signal of each video is processed by the processing component to generate a spatial-audio signal that is perceived, by a user or viewer, to emanate from a position in space corresponding to the location of the video-display frame in which the video signal is rendered.

Abstract: A digital audio encoder, digital video conditioner, and a digital modulator are described for producing a television broadcast signal at a desired channel frequency range. Left and right audio channel signals are digitized and encoded according to a stereo standard and then combined to form a stereo audio signal. A second audio programming channel signal may be included. A video input can be digitized and conditioned to form a digital video channel. The stereo audio signal can be placed directly at a desired channel frequency by frequency modulation without the need for using an intermediate frequency. The digital video channel can be placed at a desired frequency by amplitude modulation. The digital and audio channels can be digitally combined to create a television transmission signal at a desired frequency and according to a desired standard.
