  • Patent number: 10699715
Abstract: An artificial neural network architecture is provided for processing raw audio waveforms to create speaker representations that are used for text-independent speaker verification and recognition. The artificial neural network architecture includes a strided convolution layer, first and second sequentially connected residual blocks, a transformer layer, and a final fully connected (FC) layer. The strided convolution layer is configured to receive raw audio waveforms from a speaker. The first and the second residual blocks both include multiple convolutional and max pooling layers. The transformer layer is configured to aggregate frame level embeddings to an utterance level embedding. The output of the FC layer creates a speaker representation for the speaker whose raw audio waveforms were inputted into the strided convolution layer.

Logo recognition may suitably employ feature extraction, signature representation, and logo matching. These three approaches make use of neural network based classification and optical character recognition (OCR). One method for OCR recognizes individual characters then performs string matching. Another OCR method uses segment level character recognition with N-gram matching. • Patent number: 9647701
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for the intelligent association of control symbols with special symbols that are transmitted over a network. In one embodiment, the association is utilized to improve DC-balance on a transmission medium. In an exemplary variant, the special symbols originate from line codes such as the 8B/10B line code, which format a digital signal so that is optimized for transmission over a given physical channel. These control symbols are divided up according to a first criterion, while the special symbols are further divided up according to a second criterion. The divided control symbols are then allocated to the divided special symbols using a pre-designated allocation algorithm, which may or may not include a scrambling algorithm. The allocation of the control symbols improves signal characteristics and electromagnetic interference (EMI) when various ones of control symbols are ultimately transmitted over a given transmission medium.

Abstract: A photonic device is provided for impressing a modulation pattern on an optical carrier. The device includes a unit in which a photodetector and an optical microresonator are monolithically integrated. The device further includes an optical waveguide evanescently coupled to the optical microresonator and having at least an upstream portion configured to carry at least one optical carrier toward the microresonator. The optical microresonator is tunable so as to resonate with the optical carrier frequency. The optical microresonator and the photodetector are mutually coupled such that in operation, charge carriers photogenerated in the photodetector are injected into the microresonator, where the photocurrent changes the resonant conditions. In some embodiments the device is operable as an optical-to-optical frequency converter. In other embodiments the device is operable as an oscillator.

  • Patent number: 9628855
Abstract: In one aspect, a video processing device includes a processor and a transmitter, for example implemented as separate integrated circuits on a printed circuit board. Pins on the processor are coupled to pins on the transmitter via a data channel, for example conductive leads on the printed circuit board. Video data is transmitted from the processor to the transmitter via this data channel, which is high speed enough to accommodate video data. The transmitter also includes an encryption engine used to encrypt the video data. Encryption control data, which determines the encryption to be applied, is transmitted from the processor to the transmitter over the same data channel as the video data. This is more secure than transmitting the encryption control data over a slower separate data channel, because the high speed video channel is harder to tamper with.

Abstract: One embodiment relates to an electronic apparatus including a video processor and a video interface controller. The video processor transmits first uncompressed video data and high dynamic range (HDR) information in a first transmission format. The HDR information is associated with each video frame of the first uncompressed video data. The first transmission format includes a first non-blanking region in each video frame. The video interface controller receives the first uncompressed video data and the HDR information from the video processor in the first transmission format. The video interface controller transmits second uncompressed video data and the HDR information to an external device in a second transmission format. The second uncompressed video data corresponds to the first uncompressed video data. The second transmission format includes a second non-blanking region in each video frame, and the first non-blanking region is larger than the second non-blanking region.

  • Patent number: 9571888
Abstract: The document discloses a method for communicating information, such as audiovisual data and other information to a user. The method includes receiving a broadcast signal on a content receiver. The broadcast signal includes a video signal and a graphical signal, and the graphical signal includes a matrix barcode. After the content receiver receives the broadcast signal, the content receiver determines whether the matrix barcode should be displayed. The determination that the matrix barcode should be displayed may be based on the geographic location of the content receiver or user settings/preferences stored on the content receiver. If the matrix barcode should be displayed, the content receiver creates and outputs a modified signal. The modified signal includes the video signal with the matrix barcode overlaid on top of the video signal. If the matrix barcode should not be displayed, the content receiver outputs the broadcast signal.

  • Patent number: 9554081
Abstract: Descriptions of video segments for use to search or select video segments are generated by using a combination of video based action type detection and image based object detection. Action type detection results in detection of action types from a predetermined set of action types, with little or no information about actors involved in the action. Object detection results in detection of individual objects in the images, with little or no information actions. A set of rules is used that define one or more roles associated with action types and conditions on objects that can fill these roles. Detected action types are used to select rules and detected objects are assigned to roles defined the selected rule. Score values are computed for different assignments of detected objects to the role, as a function of the attribute values of the assigned objects. A combination of the detected action type and the detected objects is selected on the basis of the score values.

Abstract: A method of deriving fingerprints for media content that is being watched by a user is described. For example, a user may select a particular show on an electronic programming guide displayed by a media device. The media device may then request the content stream, from the content source, that includes the particular show. The source may indicate whether a fingerprint is needed for the particular show requested by the media device. The indication may be a flag in the data received by the media device. If the particular show needs to be fingerprinted as indicated by the flag, the media device may decompress the corresponding video frames, load the decompressed video frames into memory and analyze the video frames to derive a fingerprint from the video frames.
