Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for matrixed audio settings. In an audio system that includes at least one audio output element for outputting audio signals, a first user input that includes a selection of audio mode may be received, and based on the selected audio mode and pre-set mapping data, one or more audio settings from a plurality of audio settings supported in the system may be determined, for use during generating, processing, and/or outputting of the audio signals. The mapping data defines for each supported audio mode valid values for each of corresponding one or more audio settings from the plurality of audio settings. At least one user control element may be configured to enable receiving a second user input that includes a selection between the determined one or more corresponding audio settings. The audio system, or at least the audio output element thereof, may be a headset.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a communication device electronically communicating with a content presentation companion device operating as a primary display for the electronic device and at least one augmented reality companion device. One or more sensors detect multiple persons within an environment while the content presentation companion device operates as the primary display. One or more processors redirect an event notification intended for presentation on the primary display to the augmented reality companion device while both the content presentation companion device operates as the primary display for the electronic device and the multiple persons are within the environment of the electronic device. When communicating with two augmented reality companion devices, the one or more processors can direct subtitles associated with a content offering, sometimes in different languages, to at least a first augmented reality companion device and a second augmented reality companion device.

Abstract: A media content playback device for a vehicle and a method therefor are provided. The media content playback device includes: a media information identifying device that requests a user terminal to transmit media information and identifies the media information, when there is a request to play media content, when communicatively connected with the user terminal; a cover art obtaining device that obtains a cover art image based on the media information; and a controller that displays the cover art image on a playback screen of the media content, when playing the media content.

Abstract: Techniques for controlling an interface of a multi-input modality device are described. In an example, a device presents a menu on a display in a first input modality mode of the device. The menu includes graphical user interface (GUI) elements. The first input modality mode corresponds to a first type of input modality. The device receives first input corresponding to a second type of input modality. The device presents the menu on the display in a second input modality mode of the device that corresponds to the second type of input modality. The first input modality mode and the second input modality mode are exclusive to each other and each provide a different menu navigation control. The device changes a presentation of a visual indicator at a first location associated with a first GUI element of the GUI elements in the menu based on the second input modality mode.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus comprises a receiver (201) for receiving an image signal comprising an encoded image. Another receiver (1701) receives a data signal from a display (107) where the data signal comprises a data field that comprises a display dynamic range indication of the display (107). The display dynamic range indication comprises at least one luminance specification for the display. A dynamic range processor (203) is arranged to generate an output image by applying a dynamic range transform to the encoded image in response to the display dynamic range indication. An output (205) outputs an output image signal comprising the output image to the display. The transform may furthermore be performed in response to a target display reference indicative of a dynamic range of display for which the encoded image is encoded. The invention may be used to generate an improved High Dynamic Range (HDR) image from e.g. a Low Dynamic Range (LDR) image, or vice versa.

Abstract: In a user interface method, system and device in a multitasking environment, it is possible for a user to view all of a plurality of simultaneously executed applications by assigning different display areas to the plurality of applications. In the method, system and device, priorities of applications already being executed and of additional applications for which execution is requested are determined, and a display area size is determined and assigned to each application according to its priority. The system comprises a set-top box for performing the latter functions and a user terminal for transmitting a user request, while the device comprises a control unit for performing the latter functions.

Abstract: The disclosure is to provide a display apparatus capable of increasing user convenience by outputting a screen and a sound under predetermined conditions when outputting a split screen, and a method of controlling the display apparatus. The display apparatus of the disclosure includes a speaker; a display; and in response to input of an output command for outputting the plurality of contents to the plurality of regions of the display, a controller configured to output image signals of a plurality of contents to a plurality of regions, and to output sound signals of the plurality of contents to the speaker. Abstract: According to one configuration, video analyzer hardware receives a first episode of video content and a second episode of video content from a content series. The video analyzer hardware produces metadata. The metadata marks segments of the second episode of video content that are to be skipped during playback of the second episode of video content to a user following playback of the first episode of video content to the user. The video distribution hardware uses the metadata to produce a playlist and control playback of the video in accordance with the metadata. During playback of the first episode of video content followed by the second episode of video content, the playback device displays a message to the user. The message requests the user to indicate whether to skip over playback of a portion of the first episode of video content.

Abstract: Systems and methods for real-time transmission of data streams are disclosed. A controller receives data representing selected stream parameters from a browser residing on a computing device. The controller transmits the received data to a video transmitting device. A transcoder receives a first data stream generated according to the selected stream parameters from the video transmitting device. The transcoder generates a second data stream from the first data stream, the second data stream formatted for browser display; and then transmits the second data stream to the browser. A user may remotely control the video transmitting device using the browser. A user may view data streams from multiple video transmitting devices using the browser.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic device including a display, a display driving circuit which drives the display, and at least one processor operationally connected to the display or the display driving circuit, wherein the at least one processor gives an afterimage risk ranking to each of a plurality of applications, and, when an application given an afterimage risk ranking higher than a designated range among the plurality of applications is executed, generates afterimage data by accumulating images sampled from the execution screens of the application given the afterimage risk ranking higher than the designated range, and delivers the afterimage data to the display driving circuit. Various other embodiments that can be understood through the present specification are also possible.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for link training and low power operation. A multi-lane high speed bus is optimized for transferring audio/visual (A/V) data at slower rates. In one embodiment, the high speed bus is configured to use a packet format structure that allows for more fluid data delivery times, thereby allowing the high speed bus to deliver A/V data at times selected to reduce power consumption. In another embodiment, the high speed bus is configured to cache link initialization data for subsequent link re-initialization before entering a low power state. Thereafter, when the link exits the low power state, the high speed bus can skip certain portions of link initialization. Still a third embodiment of the present disclosure is directed to exemplary modifications to existing high speed bus link training and low power operation, consistent with the aforementioned principles. Variants of a Universal Serial Bus implementation are provided for illustration.

Abstract: Systems and methods for latency masking via prefix caching, by providing a recorded output of launch of a network application to a client device from a point closer to client device, or with lower latency than output of the actual network application can be provided to the client device. The resulting user experience is that of instant or near-instant launch of the application, avoiding network delays communicating with the application server or processing delays from instantiation of virtual machines or other resources to provide the network application.

Abstract: An electronic device stores, for a first user of a media-providing service, a listening history corresponding to media content items provided by the media-providing service that have been previously consumed by the first user. The electronic device provides a shared playback queue to a first device of the first user and a second device of a second user. The electronic device identifies a source of a first media content item of the one or more media content items in the shared playback queue. Based on the identified source of the first media content item in the shared playback queue, the electronic device determines whether to include the first media content item in the listening history of the first user. The electronic device provides information for a second media content item to the first device of the first user based on the listening history of the first user.

Abstract: A server center for hosting low-latency streaming interactive audio/video (A/V) includes a plurality of servers that run one or more applications and an inbound routing network that receives packet streams from users via a first network interface and routes the packets to one or more of the servers. The packet streams include user control input. One or more of the servers are operable to compute A/V data responsive to the user control input. A compression unit is coupled to receive the A/V data from the one or more of the servers and output compressed A/V data therefrom. An output routing network that routes the compressed A/V data to each of the users over a corresponding communication channel via a second interface, the compression unit is operable to modify a compression rate responsive to current characteristics of the corresponding communication channel for each user so as to optimize performance of the one or more applications.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are described for auto-summarizing video and/or audio content. In some embodiments, a summary server might retrieve one or more time codes from a time code database, and might analyze the one or more time codes to determine at least one selected time code among the one or more time codes that exceeds a predetermined number of selections. The one or more time codes might correspond to one or more triggers, which might include user-inputted triggers, triggers associated with actions by a live audience, or broadcaster/distributor/producer-provided triggers (i.e., cue tones). The summary server might determine one or more selected segments of video or audio content corresponding to the at least one selected time code, and might create one or more summary tracks, where each of the one or more summary tracks might comprise each of the one or more selected segments of the video or audio content.

A PIP output video is rendered that includes the presentation element. Upon receiving a command to exclude the presentation element, the portions of the PIP output video containing the presentation element are re-rendered to remove the presentation element from the PIP output video.

The client device may then receive some or all of the filtered suggestions for utilization in merged browsing. In some embodiments, a server may further receive an indicator of content being browsed. In response, the server may determine network content fragment suggestions, and may also determine an additional suggestion or prioritize a suggestion based an advertiser's interest. The server may then provide the suggestions and/or prioritization to the client device. In various embodiments, the server may also provide the advertisement(s) for display in a user interface of the client device along with the (prioritized) suggestions.

If so, the computing system retrieves the audio parameter settings and automatically reconfigures an audio playback device(s) with the retrieved audio parameter settings. If not, the computing system determines whether the database contains audio parameter settings associated with a content category to which the requested media content belongs. If so, such audio parameter settings are retrieved and the audio playback device(s) are reconfigured with the audio parameter settings.

Abstract: Techniques are described for managing streaming video profile selections of downstream client devices for a network device. Embodiments include reserving a determined amount of bandwidth at a network gateway device, on a link between the network gateway device and an upstream network device. The network gateway device subscribes to multicast network communications for one or more video streaming profiles of a plurality of video streaming profiles for a first video content. Each of the plurality of video streaming profiles corresponds to a respective encoding of the first video content. Embodiments selectively requesting a plurality of data packets for at least one of the plurality of video streaming profiles, from at least one upstream network device, without requiring a request to be received for the at least one video streaming profiles from the one or more client devices, using at least a portion of the reserved determined amount of bandwidth.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide systems and methods that facilitate computations that are publically defined while assuring the confidentiality of the input data provided, the generated output data, or both using homomorphic encryption on the contents of the secure distributed transaction ledger. Full homomorphic encryption schemes protect data while still enabling programs to accept it as input. In embodiments, using a homomorphic encryption data input into a secure distributed transaction ledger allows a consumer to employ highly motivated entities with excess compute capability to perform calculations on the consumer's behalf while assuring data confidentiality, correctness, and integrity as it propagates through the network.

A method includes receiving a multi-media signal comprising an audio signal and a haptic signal with a receiver of a haptic device, and outputting a haptic effect with a haptic output device of the haptic device based on the haptic signal in the multi-media signal.

For example, the remote control device may include a switch. Abstract: This application provides a method for method for television (TV) remote keypress response based on Android operating system (OS) and a TV thereof, and includes: creating a first process when the Android OS is being initialized; executing the first process to obtain a key value of a remote keypress event; and performing a remote keypress operation according to the key value. The method creates and executes the first process during the initialization of the Android OS, thereby realizing responding to remote keypress during TV start-up, greatly enhancing user experience.

The method may further include connecting a service signaling channel, parsing the received first signaling information, determining whether the NRT service is supported in the broadcasting receiver and consuming the web contents of the NRT service. The NRT service may include at least one of a fixed NRT service and a mobile NRT service. The first signaling information may be a data casting description table (DDT) if the NRT service is the fixed NRT service. The first signaling information may be a service map table (SMT) if the NRT service is the mobile NRT service.
