The reflection unit 12 transmits light from the light source 14, and reflects light from the active matrix substrate 11a. The pixel areas of R, G, B have reflection areas that reflect light from the reflection unit 12 so that the respective amounts of light outgoing from the above-described pixel areas are approximately uniform.

    Abstract: A new TFT arrangement is demonstrated, which enables prevention of TFT to be formed over a joint portion between the adjacent SOI layers prepared by the process including the separation of a thin single crystal semiconductor layer from a semiconductor wafer. The TFT arrangement is characterized by the structure where a plurality of TFTs each belonging to different pixels is gathered and arranged close to an intersection portion of a scanning line and a signal line. This structure allows the distance between regions, which are provided with the plurality of TFTs, to be extremely large compared with the distance between adjacent TFTs in the conventional TFT arrangement in which all TFTs are arranged in at a regular interval. The formation of a TFT over the joint portion can be avoided by the present arrangement, which leads to the formation of a display device with a negligible amount of display defects.

    Abstract: A pixel structure includes a first and a second scan lines, a data line, a first insulating layer covering the first and the second scan lines and a portion of the data line and having a recess, a second insulating layer covering the first insulating layer, a capacitor electrode line covering the data line and the recess, a third insulating layer on the capacitor electrode line, a first active device electrically connected to the second scan line and the data line, a second active device electrically connected to the first active device and the first scan line, and a first and a second pixel electrodes electrically connected to the first and the second active devices, respectively. The portion of the data line and the first and the second scan lines are in the same layer. The recess is located at two sides of the portion of the data line.
